5yr obesity history? Help

So i found out today, no pre op diet required..yay right...i dont know cuz what they do want is a 5yr obesity history. I moved here (illinois) from cali in 2007, never really saw a doctor unless i was prego. In 2008 i was prego with my last child and saw my obgyn here and then finally started seeing a primary on a regular basis, but obviously not 5yrs. Im worried about having a 5yr history. Any ideas or anyone who has had this issue that might be able to give advice, please do so!!! Thanks in advance!!

I called back to surgeons office and left a msg for the lady who deals with the insurance part to even see if i should pursue this since my bmi for 5yrs was 32-39 with no comorbidities. Ugh...pray for me! I could just cry right now!!!

Aw Shaye...I'm so sorry. You never know what your insurance rep could have to say.

I have been going through the same problems as you! I have been trying to get approved since 2010! I have uhc and you need 5 years of 40+ bmi.....if I were you I wouldn't waste your money doing all the testing the surgon will want you to do. I have wasted over 500 dollars so far and am starting all over again this year! I highly doubt you will get approved! I know it sucks! I finally have my 5 years this year and if they don't approve me this time I'm going to Mexico! If I were you I would look into Mexico too!

Oh great!!! I would perfer the supervised 6mo pre op diet. This sucks!!! I dont have 4,000+ to go to mexico or i would. uhc paid 100% of my labs and EKG, not sure about the nut and phsyc, and physical therapist...those are set up for next week. But ya, if im gonna get declined why waste everyones time! And why wont uhc tell me what they want so i dont waste their money on unneeded appts. Surgeons office never called back...of course, im sure they want the business! I dont get it, i was over 200lbs all 5yrs.. Sorry i didnt have diabeties or sleepapnea or anything else but i also dont want them and im tired of yo yo dieting and nothing working! Soooooooo mad right now!!!!!! I knew my luck wasnt this good!!

I know! I hate trying to talk to uhc....as soon as you say wls their tone changes and they start talking down to you! Atleast that's how they are with me...

They did pay for my EKG'S (I've had 3 now) and labs but I have to pay 200.00 for the phsyc eval, again....and I think it was just my copay for the nut. I'm like you there is nothing else wrong with me other than my weight. It is so stupid that they don't help people before they have problems!

Ya, and every plan is different so there are some people who have only been over weight for a few months or so and dont have to do anything but submit a request and in days theyre approved! Even if i have sleep apnea right now, i was never tested for it in the past 5 yrs so it still wouldnt help! Ugh! Im gonna shoot for it cus i heard sometimes it has to do with the surgeons request to the insurance too. Im also gonna send in pics of myself ( proving my weight) and im.also gonna write a letter ( what could it hurt) maybe i will get a nice rep who will approve me..lol im not reading too many denials about uhc so im gonna try like hell!!!! Good luck to you, and keep me posted! Ill keep updating too!!
