  1. I'm 27 married with 4 kids! Hope to be sleeved sometime early next year. Best of wishes to you!
  2. I have Mirena it lasts for 5 years. I had it placed in march of 09 and havent had a period since april of 09!! No complaints there! I haven't noticed a weight gain with it either....I was on the depo shot and became a crazy B****! I also no joke gained 30lbs in one month!
  3. I am 27 years old and decided to have wls 3 years ago when my 4th child was born with special needs. She is going to need my care for as long as she lives! To do that I need to loose weight! I have not been able to loose weight on my own so wls is my last ditch effort to be healthy! I decided to get sleeved. Went through the whole process and got denied because I didn't have 5 years in a row of 40+ BMI. So I have been waiting.... I decided a month or so ago to forget the ins and go to mx. I did my paper work and sent it in. I then told my parents about my plan and they pretty much begged me to try one more time here....I decided ok for them I will try ONE more time! Well I just got an email saying I was approved to be sleeved with Dr Kelly. I have wanted a date for three years and now that I have one I'm being asked to turn it down! I am so overwhelmed and stressed out with this! Thanks for letting me vent!!
  4. Because my BMI was just shy of 40. They require 5 years of 40+ BMI.
  5. I've been waiting for 36 months now! United healthcare wouldn't accept 3 of my 5 weights! Come hell or high water I WILL be sleeved this next year!!
  6. Thanks to all the replys! I have been waiting to have this done for the past three years! I am sick of fighting with united healthcare for an approval! My mom has known that I will be getting sleeved from the start and is fine with it....she just has misconceptions about mx. I am well prepared for this and am trying to make her feel at ease with it. I know I will be in great hands with Dr kelly and omar! Its not like I'm super huge either...my BMI is 43.8....so 280lbs I know all the do's and donts I know I will be fine. But she doesn't think I will be able to get care from doctors here if I go to mx.

  8. I am 27 with a young family and have decided to be sleeved by Dr. Kelly. I just told my mom about going to mexico and she is worried about after care. If I got home and something were wrong what would I do... would I be able to get treatment....will my pcp still see me? I told her a hospital HAS to treat me! I will have to pay out of pocket (I think) but I won't be turned away! Does anyone have any advice I could pass on to her to make her feel better about this?
  9. I don't have the money for Mexico right now either....so I am waiting just a little longer until next year and then I am going to use part of our tax return to pay for it. I also don't want to become in debt because of the surgery! I would probably be able to get UHC to pick it up next year....but I have no clue what the bill to me will be! I like knowing that 6K (including airfair) is all I need to be on my way to finding me! Best of luck to you!
  10. I had the same problem....I have united healthcare and they denied me because I didn't have 5 years in a row of 40+ bmi. I have been fighting with them for the last three years over this! So I am now going to go to mexico and forget trying to put it through to the ins again!
  11. I was researching info on Dr. Kelly and found out he has done over 7,000 bariatric surgerys.....I then looked up the Doctor I was going to use and he has done just over 2,000....hmmm now who would I want to cut 85% of my stomach out?? No brainer there!
  12. I was told Grand Health Partners in Grand Rapids MI is 19,000. I was going to use Dr. Foote. Really nice there!
  13. Our daughter is missing part of her 13th chromosome. She has had a lot of medical problems but the issues that would be hard to work out is even though she is three she is unable to sit up on her own. She is still in a rear facing car seat, she has growth hormone issues so she is small too. She is also G tube fed...she is on the pump 23hrs a day. She also has medications that has to be kept cold. I don't know if it would be alowed on the plane to begin with. I haven't flown since I was 14 so I feel totaly out of touch with what you can and can't do on a plane!
  14. CJ~ thanks for the ideas! If we were to drive we would only take the one kid...I would be out of my mind to take everyone! If I do fly it will be alone and I'm ok with that but I have a very caring husband and it would make him feel better to be there with me making sure I'm ok...
  15. We live in Michigan so it would be like a 36 hr drive each way....the drive back is what I'm worried about! But I really want my husband to go with me! I also don't know how getting to the hospital ect would work because I know they normally pick people up in San diego.
  16. I have made the decision to forgo my insurance (united healthcare) and get sleeved by Dr. Kelly. I have been trying to get the insurance to approve me for going on three years now! I have a young family with 4 kids one beeing a disabled 3 year old. My husband wants to go with me but due to our daughters medical condition no one is comfortable watching her....and there is no way flying with her would be possible. I'm wondering if anyone else has drove down and how it worked out for them?
