5yr obesity history? Help

Recommended Posts

BMI over 40 with no comorbidities or BMI of 35 or more with comorbidities. Those are the guidelines I've seen pretty much everywhere.

Well, i will have a problem them . Mine is 32-39 with no corbidities.

I have been going through the same problems as you! I have been trying to get approved since 2010! I have uhc and you need 5 years of 40+ bmi.....if I were you I wouldn't waste your money doing all the testing the surgon will want you to do. I have wasted over 500 dollars so far and am starting all over again this year! I highly doubt you will get approved! I know it sucks! I finally have my 5 years this year and if they don't approve me this time I'm going to Mexico! If I were you I would look into Mexico too!

I know! I hate trying to talk to uhc....as soon as you say wls their tone changes and they start talking down to you! Atleast that's how they are with me...

They did pay for my EKG'S (I've had 3 now) and labs but I have to pay 200.00 for the phsyc eval, again....and I think it was just my copay for the nut. I'm like you there is nothing else wrong with me other than my weight. It is so stupid that they don't help people before they have problems!

Ya, and every plan is different so there are some people who have only been over weight for a few months or so and dont have to do anything but submit a request and in days theyre approved! Even if i have sleep apnea right now, i was never tested for it in the past 5 yrs so it still wouldnt help! Ugh! Im gonna shoot for it cus i heard sometimes it has to do with the surgeons request to the insurance too. Im also gonna send in pics of myself ( proving my weight) and im.also gonna write a letter ( what could it hurt) maybe i will get a nice rep who will approve me..lol im not reading too many denials about uhc so im gonna try like hell!!!! Good luck to you, and keep me posted! Ill keep updating too!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
