PRE OP EATING HABITS

Recommended Posts

ok so I have ate pretty healthy my whole life. Yes i eat awful occasionally but even on those days I probably only eat 3,000 cals at the very most.

I have been eating around 1,600 cals a day for over a year with no weightloss. Lately been trying for less than 1,400 (I am 36 weeks pregnant so don't wanna go too low).

I'm just scared it won't work for me as I really don't eat junk all that much and don't eat tons of calories to begin with.

Has anyone else ate relatively heathy their whole life with occasional bad weeks or months and been able to be successful?

Not to mention i eat organic whenever possible, but low fat or sugar free stuff when possible. I don't eat bread often (maybe twice a month if that).

I take a bunch of different Vitamins since I was 13 just for general maitenience of my health every single day (I feel incomplete without them).

Just really hoping it will make a difference despite my eating habits.

Well, you are 8 months pregnant so you should NOT be dieting while pregnant.

After the baby is born, then try eating 1400 calories a day.

You might want to break down the types of calories you are taking in. Whether they are primarily carbs from things that are converted into sugar easily - like breads and pastas. Or your calories are primarily from Protein - which requires more effort to convert to sugars. I know that my body will hold onto weight more easily if I am eating breads and pastas. Eating protein, on the other hand, requires my body to take longer to break down and is only partially converted to sugars.

May I ask what your current weight and BMI are? Do you have any comorbidities or other health problems that may be an issue? I am not sure if you have been writing down what you eat and keeping track of portion size and calories...I do know this--and I've ready studies as well about this--it is more common than not to actually be consuming far more calories than you think you are...in other words, I might estimate that I am eating at most 3,000 calories a day, but if I actually write down what I eat and accurately take into account portion size (for instance, most portions I consider "normal" actually are considered for two people), I might actually be consuming more like 4,000 calories a day.

I am not dieting, I eat well and I track every single thing I eat (have done so for a year and a half).

My dr says 1400 cals a day is fine (thanks for your opinion however you're not my dr).

I am currently 288lbs and 5'7"

I haven't been diagnosed with gerd but I have to take nexium everyday and my dr has

Mentioned it before.

I don't really eat many carbs (unless from fruit).

I eat mostly veggies and dairy (can't really tolerate meat of any sort while pregnant).

I drink Protein shakes everyday (low cal low carb low sugar).

I know alot about food and nutrition. I don't drink full sugar drinks, there is never juice in my house. Water, skin milk and almond milk (unsweetened) only.

I have been checked for thyroid and there never seems to be an issue.

I will get the surgery regardless, but I've come to find that most people didn't eat very well before surgery and they had to completely change the types of food they eat.

The mushy stage post op seems alot like what I already eat everyday.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
