Don't worry. Not that unusual. We call them food funerals. Part of the process for some.

While it is not recommended at ALL...I had a food funeral myself. As much as you educate yourself about what youll be able to eat after surgery, somewhere in some of our brains we think we will never have delicious food again and its simply not true. Pre-surgery I had a piece of my favorite pizza, had ribs, lobster, crab, wings, sushi, etc. Post surgery I have had lobster (a very small tail), crab (only a couple ounces cause I fill up so fast), ribs (can only eat 1 and Im stuffed lol), wings (can only eat 1 1/2 or 2 if they are small), sushi (can only eat 3 little rolls), etc. I still get to enjoy my favorites but my main concern now is Protein. And...Im a cheap date now so there's that lol. I love my sleeve, I love my restriction and I love that my clothes are wayyyy too big for me now.

I did the same thing, but as they say I wish I knew then what I know now, Pre op I thought I would never enjoy food again today at 5 weeks I eat what ever I want the main difference is bite size and quantity :) I gained 12 pounds on my food funeral!!! The feelings are normal try not to go over board like I did :)

Oh man, food funerals. I've never felt more miserable! I wish I hadn't done that either. It's so not worth it!

I had a food funeral.. but all I did was go out to dinner for one last delicious fattening meal.. had prime rib.. baked potato..and green salad.. plus tater skins.. no dessert..and one last bubbly mineral water.. that was my funeral before starting my full liquid diet for the week before surgery.. I think I did quite well on that... no regrets..

I guess I was lucky in that I have a hate/hate relationship with food. Since at least 2012 I have been discusted with food, didn't have anything that I really "wanted" to eat, but I was taking in around 3,000 calories a day. So when a friend asked me if I wanted to go to a fancy buffet and have one last feast, it was easy to say no. I still don't like food and am very happy that the sleeve stopped that constant nagging sensation that caused me to eat so much.

oh yeah baby!! I went on a 3wk foodie binge for foods i knew i'd not be having post op. I rationalized it in my mind like this: if i kill the cravings BEFORE surgery, I would be over the crazed crave...most of it worked...my funeral list?

FRIED chicken

PIZZA/PASTA

ENCHILADAS

RIBS/BRISKET/SAUSAGE

SODA (PEPSI MAX/NEXT/ORIGINAL)

STEAK W/BAKED POTATO

Although we are urged not to do this, it actually kind of helped me not even want these things now...the things I didnt manage to consider seem to be things i crave now, but it's much easier to bypass the temptation since I over did it pre-VSG.

Crab legs are OK. They are a great source of protein!!! And they are not too high in calories if you don't dip them in butter. I eat crab now, but dip it in a tiny bit of cocktail sauce.

Good luck with your surgery!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
