Popcorn?

Recommended Posts

A slider is a food ( usually stuff that tastes good but is bad for you) that you can eat with no restriction in your tummy.. Proteins will fill up and you will feel the restriction but things like mashed potatoes' date=' chips and such you will be able to eat more of without that " full feeling"

Cruel but true.[/quote']

Damn I never heard of that. Thanks!!

Damn I never heard of that. Thanks!!

I know a couple of girls and I that were in the hospital together talk and joke about it sometimes because we weren't aware also. We were like "damn I didn't get fat from eating to many baked chicken breasts" :)

You will do fine it's a learning process for all of us

I am almost 4 months out and eat popcorn at the movies. Be very careful because I was amazed how much I could eat. It goes down way to easy and tastes way too good. I still eat it at the movies but I am careful not to overeat. Popcorn does not bother my stomach at all and like I said just be mindful when you are eating it that you don't overdue it. I do enjoy Popcorn at the movies and I feel that if I can eat it in moderation then that is fine. Oh by the way I hit 60 pounds down today. Not quite 4 months out. I am a happy camper!!

I think obtaining is probably best for now. Eventually when you can have it I would sneak in a pre popped 100 calorie pack. That's what I do because movie theater popcorn is SO bad & it is a slider food for me as well. If I bring in a healthier option I don't eat too much of the bad stuff. Good luck sweetie, I'm glad you are so open to others feedback. This shows a great desire to be successful. When that drive is stronger than your desire to eat what you want, versus what you should, you will have a better shot of reaching your goal. :)

I am 5 weeks post-OP - will be 6 weeks when I go to the movies next week. My question is what about popcorn? I know it goes against the Protein first rule' date=' but I'd love to have some movie theatre popcorn next week (hooray for the fact that ill save money since I wont even be able to finish a small!). What about the one hard/sharp part in the middle (not sure what its called?) is that a danger or can I just chew really well?

Also! So far 2 people have noticed my weight loss :D I've never been able to lose weight before so the comments/compliments are a new thing to me and feel so great!!

Thanks for any advice![/quote']

Be careful popcorn is a slider food for me as well.Another thing and this may be TMI but popcorn does not sit well in my stomach it gives me the runs this was popcorn from Target which is not as greasy as at the movies I would have needed depends for sure if it had all of the extra movie theatre butter:o

I am mourning the loss of target popcorn.

Hmmmm. I would be extremely cautious. There is nothing in my guidelines about popcorn but here is what I would do. I would break two rules because I would have something to drink with that. I would have ONE piece' date=' chew it into oblivion, drink. My sleeve is tomorrow so I cant say much but when I had a lapband I could tell from the first bite if it was going to go down OK or not.[/quote']

Why risk it right ?!?!?

i just had my 6 week surgiversary...lol...saturday and my fiance and i went to the movies.sorry to say ....i did eat popcorn ...and alot of it ...with butter! i had been sooooo good this long...lol....and felt i deserved something i enjoyed...as long as it is not a daily habit!needless to say .....i had noooo problem eating about 3 cups of it . i had no tummy trouble at all before , during , or after!!! It tasted so good too !:) .......but i know this was considered a "treat" for me . should i have ate it ??? probably not....and do i feel bad that i did eat it ???? no...like i said, i dont think eating something i enjoy every now and again is really gonna kill me .so ...do what your heart tells u ...........or better yet .....skip the movies and wait til it comes out so u can watch it at home minus the popcorn !!:)

Somewhere on this site it said that some dr said kettle corn. So I looked at reg popcorn vs kettle corn. Sure enough kettle corn was the best! So when u do eat it...try the single serve kettle corn:)

I like the idea of sneaking in a 100 calorie pack of already popped popcorn. Then you still get to have the popcorn, but don't get all the extra salt and calories that you get with the dreaded (calorie-wise) movie popcorn.

I love popcorn, but I reframed from eating it for 12 weeks. What I did...this is weird and I've done it with a few of my "bad" choices. I put it in my mouth let the popcorn dissolve, and then spit it out. Haha. Crazy I know but I was happy and I didn't comprise my tummy. Best of luck!

Funny! I did that with pizza after 4 weeks because I knew I shouldn't be eating it so I chewed it up and spit it out! The crazy thing is it used to be my all-time favourite non-dessert food and when I was chewing it I didn't even want to swallow because it tasted so gross! I wanted nothing to do with it! I chewed about 3 bites and threw out the rest! I couldn't believe it!

Funny about popcorn, never ate it prior to surgery. Husband would sit over there and eat a whole microwave bag by himself. Then, post op, it smelled really good!! And I, like so many others who posted here, can eat a ton of it now, with no ill effects.

Sooo, only on Saturday nights, I eat popcorn with my sweetie. I measure out two cups of popped kernals, and sweetie eats the rest. Just because it CAN go down doesn't mean it SHOULD.

Oh, and I do not use butter. Don't need that greasy stuff.

I LOVE microwave popcorn, and I always thought of it as a fairly healthy snack pre-op, but it doesn't fit into my low carb life now. Carbs tend to send me into a crazy spiral of craving more carbs and sugar, so "just a little" doesn't work so well for me at the moment, and I'm not willing to test my boundaries so close to goal.

If I'm craving a salty snack, I often munch on seaweed Snacks. Friday nights I have just about a half serving of soy crisps - it's still carbs, but there's at least a little Protein in it, and I'm able to stop after just a few as long as I'm not eating out of the bag!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
