hey! I actually qualify to join a clique! That NEVER happens to me :-)

Let's see... issues I'm having....

I look like an old, empty, paper sack but I don't want to go through the pain of cosmetic surgery.

I still want to eat more than I can (which is why I had to get the sleeve :-) .

That's about it.

Spatter, I look like an old empty paper sack too! But I look ok clothed. The only part I can't hide clothed is the pooch belly, and I am considering plastics for that, but not sure yet. Why don't you come to the support group on Feb 2, where a prominent plastic surgeon in Lexington will make a presentation about our options? I haven't attended any of the meetings, but I will attend this one.

So glad to see this forum! At 10 months out, not having any real issues.

I am disappointed in myself. I've done so well to date. But had a cake-filled few days this week as I turned 60, and I did eat too much of it. Now the scale is reprimanding me for it. Just a pound, but a pound is a pound. Going to be rid of it by end of the week.

Cool. I'm 20 pounds from my docs goal. Maybe not a vet but not a newbie either. I propose a ban in this forum on stalls, soft foods and complaining about complainers who complain too much.

I'm only 5 months out....so technically I don't really qualify to be here. However, I'm going to sneak in anyway because I qualify by post. 1391!! I have to admit, I was suprised when I went back to see if I'm at the 6 month mark to find out next week it will only be 5 months!! Geesh! I feel like I've been sleeved forever! I did start the process back in April, so maybe that's why it feels longer?

I am also becoming a wrinkly sack. I may do a boobie lift down the road, but I kinda doubt it. I think i'd look pretty darn funny w a wrinkly body and cute perk boobies. ;-)

Butter, I agree with you about the bans....up to a point. We may need a place to complain when things get rough. But i do agree that that shouldn't be the focus of this forum.

This is my primary concern about plastics at my age. I don't want to look like FrankenWoman. I have too much upper arm skin, saggy flat butt and my thighs are just hideous. But I'm only interested in bringing the tummy bulge down, nothing else. I don't want a belly that looks like it belongs to a 20 year old, or even a 40 year old. I just want to look like a 60 year old with a reasonably flat tummy.

I hope to find a surgeon who understands this concept.

Thanks Susan!

Another empty paper sack here and just hit the century mark. I am 16 pound from goal and a little over one year out. I cannot believe it's been a whole year.

A veteran named Cheri told me that the skin does shrink up somewhat one year after reaching goal or near goal. I will need a panniculectomy. I have saggy everything, but my lower thighs and legs are fine so I can wear shorts if not too short. I even have extra finger skin!

My real issue is that it is taking forever to lose these last pounds. I cannot really call it a stall because I am actually losing but only about 3 pounds in the last month. It's just excruciatingly slow.

Rather have a chile relleno. Hmmm, egg, cheese, green chile = Sleeve friendly. Whoda thought!

Speaking of plastic surgery. I was pretty positive and upbeat about my sleeve. The whole plastics thing, really scares me. I would love to get a thigh lift, but the thought of putting my body through all of that for cosmetic surgery freaks me out. I know the whole factor of the end results are worth it and all, maybe I just need time to wrap my mind around this. I will wait at least a whole year after I get to goal, maybe my skin will bounce back even if just a little bit.

I am simply terrified over the though of surgery to cut off skin, I wonder why my 3 abdominal surgereies didn't bother me, but the prospect of this does?

I'm worried about losin my belly button. I heard that happens sometimes when doing tummy skin removal (a panni removal) I'm just trying to learn to be comfortable in my own skin (ba-dum-cha.) but I would like some boobs. I have always had big boobs, I would like to have my DDs back. I'm sure they would look great on my tinier frame. Maybe ill max out the Visa. ????

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
