Soreness & No Weight Loss in 3 Months

Recommended Posts

I am now 7 months out and down 65 lbs total, only 1/2 way to goal. I have not lost any weight since October. I know it doesn't help that I have not been exercising and I do feel like I can still eat a lot. I know this is only a tool but I just feel like the surgery has done what it's going to do for me and the rest is up to me alone - which is extremely scary and discouraging when I still have so much to lose. I feel like I stretched out my sleeve. I have been battling depression for a long time and been really stressed, started going a bit overboard on my anti-anxiety meds which made me not care about anything, but that is over now. I am really wishing I would have had the RnY or DS. My mom had the RnY at the same time as me and has lost all her weight plus more. I know I'm just whining and this is my own problem. I just thought I would be much thinner by now, because even though I can eat more than I'd like, I still barely eat in comparison to how I was pre-op.

And the next thing is, I have noticed my stomach has felt sore(?) lately. It's hard to describe. It almost feels as if its bruised, like I got hit right in the stomach. This is strange to me to have this suddenly and when I'm so far out. Anyone know what this is?

Any help/advice is appreciated.

Are you sticking to your Protein? Or are you eating a lot of carbs? Not to have lost since Oct is huge, I know we all have stalls but that is a pretty large stall.

Also if you know some of the reasons on why your not loosing, take accountablity and just do it. You've come to far not to go all the way.

Good luck on your journey

Does the surgeon or practice you used have an aftercare program? Support groups? On site dietitian and exercise specialist? Use all of their resources to help get you going back in the right direction. Also, take into consideration that a lot of meds hinder weight loss...

Go back to about week 3-4 post op and start fresh.

Change your mind...and change your life!

Hang tough!

I'm almost 5 months out. On monday i took a Zumba class in the Water. Think 'lots of bouncing!' ;-). Next day my belly hurt where the big incision was. My doc said that it can take many months for those muscles to totally heal.

Someone also mentioned that we could develop lesions (scar tissue) and that's not good. Pay attention to where the pain is and maybe call your doc?

I'm sorry you are having a hard time. I've decided that this surgery is like a marriage. Exciting at first, then as time passes by we have our peaks and valleys. I hope you find a way to turn things around.

Miss- I am in the same boat. No loss since October. I know I am eating the wrong things. I started on Monday to be really strict again. I am eating less and not eating a lot of carbs. I was afraid that I stretched my sleeve out as well. I watched a YouTube video where a doctor talks about sleeve stretching and how it doesn't really happen so I feel better about that. I totally get you when you say you wished you would have opted for a different surgery! It is what it is, though and we need to make the best of it.

The lowest weight I have seen on the scale is 190.8. That didn't last but one day, though. On Monday I was at 195.6. This morning I was at 191.4. I am hoping to be in the 180's by next week. It sucks that the surgery isn't a fix all. We all heard that prior to surgery, though.. It is time to be accountable for what we put in our mouths and work our sleeves!

It is SO hard to get back on the wagon once you fall off, but just take one day at a time. It is a struggle but we can be each other's cheerleaders!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
