All of my December sleevers...

Recommended Posts

Just a little suggestion to the slow looser. If there is any bread, rice, Pasta, or heavy carbs in your diet remove them 100% focus on just the fish/chicken and veggies make sure you get in at least 64 ounces of Water replace a meal with a Protein Shake replace a heavy calorie meal with a fat free greek yogurt. You can't claim your a slow looser if you still have heavy carbs in your diet, your making yourself a slow looser because you still want the foods that caused you to be heavy in the first place. remove them and you will be fine. Just a suggestion. This is your journey and its up to you to really want it! Trust me I crave carbs all the time but I want the weight loss more then the carbs you have to make a choice on how serious this journey is for you. When you can say for Breakfast i had a shake and for lunch i had fish and veggies and for snack I had a greek yogurt and for dinner i had baked chicken and veggies for a week and am still a slow looser i then feel your pain but folks say they slow but have bread, rice, pasta, and so on and wonder why? Wonder no more guys. CHANGE YOUR DIET! I am not trying to be hard on anyone but it kills me when people say they a slow looser but their carbs outweigh their Protein on their myfitnesspal food intake diary.

I weighed today and I've lost 80 pounds since surgery on December 3. I feel like I should have lost more but when you average it out over the weeks, it's really great progress. I too am thinking about doing liquid for a few days or for Meal Replacements. A friend started the hormone replacement weight loss. Anyone ever try that? It goes against a lot of what we're taught so I'm just offering her support and not really advise.

4 lbs in two days! Here we go again! Going back on liquids helped with starting up my loss and also has let my pouch shrink a bit. When I tried to eat a bit today I really felt the restriction.

As of this morning 186

I want to hit 175 by June 21st. Wish me luck!

I have consistently been low carbs and have a few stalls here and there, but have lost over 80 pounds since 12/26. The first few weeks of extremely low carbs was difficult, but after that the cravings went away... I primarily eat meat and veggies. Cut the carbs and you WILL lose weight, the more carbs you eat the more you crave them and the more carbs you eat the hungrier you will be. I also eliminated lunch meat I found the high sodium gave me Water weight gain. I am also consistently at or below 600 calories 20 carbs and 30 fat. I still have 45 pounds to reach goal, and at the rate I am going should be there by 9 months post op.

We are sleeve Twinkies my surgery was also on December 26..... My calorie intake stays normally 600 to about 825.... i to try to eliminate all carbs As well this was my problem before surgery so I'm proud that I'm able to not eat any bread rice Pasta .... As of today I am down hundred pounds Yay... It's funny that you should say that about lunch meat... Try to piece the other day and all I could taste with a sodium.... My only true downfall is I do not drink enough fluids....

So today I decided to go back to my 2-3 month basics since the changes I have made over the last few weeks have been working against me I have been up and down for the last 2 weeks and its my own fault I have been grazing and increasing my calories and including carbs and since I see thats not working it time to go back to what was working. this would be okay if I was at goal but since I am not and I want to continue to loose weight i need to stick to the plan that worked. I now know how to maintain the weight once I get to goal but this lesson is not meant for now so i need to get back on track so as of today I am making changes to get these last few pounds off before I mess my own progress up. *Taking my own advice* Wish me luck sleevers! I WILL REACH GOAL EVEN IF IT KILLS ME!

I am going to be brutally honest here, I have been sabotaging myself lately. I have been eating carbs and not loosing any weight...

My old habits are back, and I can kick myself in the booty. I need to get back on track, and maybe start with liquids again, to jump start my wt. loss and to get me off this carb kick.

I need to get at the root of this issue.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
