Im right there with you. Im making changes today and will reach it come hell or high Water. Im down a good bit but need to get 50 more off to have a chance at air force in october.

I wish you luck, we are human but we have to want it no matter how hard it is. And this is hard we have a tool and we need to use it wisely or we all did this for nothing.

I am going to be brutally honest here, I have been sabotaging myself lately. I have been eating carbs and not loosing any weight...

My old habits are back, and I can kick myself in the booty. I need to get back on track, and maybe start with liquids again, to jump start my wt. loss and to get me off this carb kick.

I need to get at the root of this issue.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Don't beat yourself up I think we get cocky so to speak, we lost all this weight and folks give us complements and then we feel like well this must be good enough but we all know we all have a way to go before we are truly satisfied with our surgeries progress lets all hold each other down and support one another in our time of need. We can do this guys. Strength in numbers!

I am right there with you. I havent gained but I havent lost either. Im stuck in ( limbo so to speak) I am ashamed of myself. Its like I lost a certain amount and I gave up. I thought oh well at least Im not gaining. Then tonight I decided to look through pictures on my camera and saw (really saw myself) again. I realized tonight why I had this surgery to begin with. We can do this, we can get back on track I know we can!

you guys rock! I got encouraged just reading the thread about sabotaging one's self... I've been on that boat (complacency) ... and now its time to get back in the Water and SWIM my tail off! I gotta lose this weight... and I won't let CARBS take me down!

I am challenging myself to lose 10 lbs between now and my next appt. in July... If I gotta go back to liquids for a few days... I'm gonna do it! I'm gonna double up on my exercise as well... walk at lunch... pool 3 days a week in the evenings... once again, its ON!!

Let's all challenge ourselves this month, especially those who can relate to my sabotage quote earlier this week. Good luck all. I'm on Myfitnesspal as rhodieridge13 if you want to friend me.

How are my December sleevers doing? Thought I would provide an update -

Date of Surgery: 12/13/2012

Starting weight: 195

Day of surgery: 188

Today (5/24/2013): 139.4

Goal weight: 115

In another few pounds, I will no longer be considered overweight by the numbers (BMI anyway)

This has been an incredible journey. My medical issures are gone (no sleep apnea, incontinence, Migraines are at a minimum, knees and ankle inflammation - gone)

My last TKD tournament was the best ever. I took first in forms (which has never happened - I seldom ever place), 3rd in weapons, 2nd in sparring, 2nd in combat sparring, 1st in Creative weapons and 1st in XMA weapons. There were several comments about my quickness, speed and energy. It was amazing.

When I place soccer, I am running all over the field. People I have played against that I hardly know talk about how great i look.

As far as referring soccer, I got a hug from the head accessor. He was so impressed with my movement. In the sections for needs to improve/areas of concerns he put "None at this time" = that never happens. This summer my daughter and I are going for a Grade 7s. Bring on the fitness test!!!

This surgery has given me my life back. Since I am now single after 24 years - bring on the world!

I want to say thank you to my fellow December sleevers. Your comments and posts have kept me going. When I had doubt or wanted to give up, I read other posts!!

Come on December sleevers - we got this!!!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
