Is it possible to start stalling in first 2 weeks? Concerned

Recommended Posts

My surgery was 12/18 and I dropped 19 pounds really quickly. The past several days I went up 1 pound and then have been at the same place for 2 days. I'm getting between 60-70 grams of Protein each day. My calories were between 600-800 and I dropped down to 500 range by making different protein choices. Should I have a stall this soon? Is this normal? Am I freaking for no reason?

YES! I stalled at that point. Dropped a little more and am stalled again... 23 pounds downs and over 5 weeks out. I suppose we must give our bodies time to adjust. A friend form the board, Charissa had surgery the smae day I did with the same surgeon and she had only lost one more pound than me.

It's not only possible. It's normal. Read the link in my sig. Many people experience the 3 week stall. It's nothing to worry about. It will pass.

Thanks. I keep hearing about a 3 week stall but not this early. I don't want to have a 2 week AND a 3 week. I was liking dropping weight every day :)

Thanks. I read it and it was helpful. I'm going to try and not stress for a bit.

I had a week 2 stall lasting 10 days. They can happen anytime .... you still lose inches though so it's just the scale catching up.

It might also be that time of month? I gained a pound and then didn't lose for like 5 days the week before my period.

Sure is. I will be 3 weeks out tomorrow and all this week my weight has gone up and down by 5 lbs. Just weight and was back down.

Yeah definitely. I stalled for eight days at the end of my second week. There have been many more.

Yep. From surgery to 1 week appointment i went down 29 lbs. however from the 1 wk to the 1 month appointment i only lost .5 lb... not even a pound.

I was crushed after learning of the failure (in my eyes) until my nut reminded me that its okay because I was experimenting with what i could pass etc.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
