Who else is waiting on approval?

Recommended Posts

Congrats!! I'm hoping I'll hear something by the end of the week. Even if I'm approved, I don't think I'll be able to schedule surgery until February anyway due to work conflicts. Just found that out:(

Hey Jen! Any news from Cigna?

I'm waiting for Approval from Aetna, I went through the required program for $150.00 and now waiting for final approval. You go through the pre op nutrition and psych consults, get every medical test under the sun done, and coordinate all the records and reports being sent and then it still takes 2-4 weeks for the insurance company to approve. It's as if they are trying to wear you down.

I am waiting on my approval too. So many mixed feelings. My ins coordinator at the dr office wont tell me the exact date my information was sent to UHC and as of Friday UHC didnt have it. The lady at UHC stated it could be in review just not noted in their system yet. When I talked to dr office I was told they didnt have my weight history which I confirmed with her that she received it in Nov. I kept a file with ally test results and dr letters I needed so I faxed it immediately to her. The dr office said they submitted my paperwork to ins without that to get ths ball rolling. So frustrating!!! Its been a week and I will be following up again tomorrow on this. Good vibes to everyone out there for success with your journey!

My paperwork is being reviewed by the surgeon's office and can take up to 7-10 bus. days then to ins for up to 14 bus. days. Such a long process but I guess it could be longer!

Just an update I called the insurance company today and I talked to a rep who was extremely helpful. She was telling me she sees this is in review and I have a pre-authorization #. The girl ay UHC also had the sleeve done 3 years ago and was a huge help. She said to call back in a week or two for a status. She said she would note I called about it. Two hours later my Dr office called to get authorization to access my medical files from prior years. Weight history. They want more than just one record. The dr office said dhe thinks she found more. This has to be a good sign maybe I will hear sooner than the week or two I was told. My prayers are being said and postive thoughts. Not just for me but all of you too!!

2nd level appeal. UHC finally put end date for decision in system - 1/25. Hoping to find out before then though. I'll keep calling every couple of days.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
