Hi loretta.... great to have another person on board for support. I hope i dont have to have the sleep test. Does Dr Nottle or the physician decide that??? The physician im seeing is a Dr Tran in spotswwod as the one in werribee is fully booked out for months and i cant wait. Yeh... maybe no Optifast for me. Did you have any blood tests or just the sleep studies?? Im booked in the see Dr Nottle on 12/2 and ive booked in the see the dietican and physician on 14/2. Can i ask your BMI.

Hi All...

I was just reading the heraldsun newspaper and it had a big thumbs up for lapbanding and stated approx. 115 patients Australia wide are booked in weekly to have the procedure. We are not alone..........and they recommend a great deal more need to have it done.

It also said the immense health benefits as we all know. A great deal of people will read the Healdsun today and undoubtably be on that phone finding out more or booking into get a referral from their local GP. Well.... we have already taken that step and now are just waiting... to me it seems our journey is really going to move along much quicker than those who havernt made the decision yet.

If you get a chance i suggest you read the Victorian Healdsun online. It also shows a comedian that has lost 50kg since last april (wow!!!)

Hi Bronnie, Not sure about your doc, But I think patients like us that also have additional health conditions such as MS get checked out more, namely the sleep tests. Your doc may not though. I had to wait several weeks for my sleep test, and then 2 weeks for the results. Susannah

Hi Bronnie

The physician i saw sent me for sleep tests because of my asthma. I think it is to make sure i'll be ok with the anesthetic,so, unless you have any health issues, i don't think you will get sent for one

Missed that article in yesterdays sun.. trying to check it out now :P

My BMI is about 37 too. I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1997 and basically have been in remission since therefore i may be sent for sleep studies due to that diagnosis. Im counting down the days until i get to see Dr Nottle on 12th Feb.

Bronnie maybe if you already have all your tests booked then before you leave Dr Nottle's rooms on the 12th you can book in for your next appointment with him then. just make it a couple of weeks after your physicians appt so Dr Nottle has time to receive results

Fingers Crossed that you'll be banded really soon.

The lung function tests arnt too bad so dont stress about them. Just remember.... if your a smoker... dont smoke for at least 4 hours prior ( id suggest longer). Its not a must but it is recommended by most professionals.

Hi Girls,

this is my first post in this forum. I am Melbourne based and looking for a doctor in public health to help me with my lap band problem.

I was banded 4 years ago, and yes, over 3-6 months my weight went from 100 to 68. Which is fantastic and i've kept it off. My only problem, and it's a big one, is vomiting every day.

It used to be a few times a week, and it can hit you at some awkward moments (you feel it coming and have two minutes to find a bathroom).

I am now getting worried as vomiting to much can cause some cancers, and i need to find out what is going on.

The doctor that did my lap banding is no longer in Melbourne.

Any advice where i can use my healthcare card would be great as the opp cost me $10,000.

Thanks in advance,

mia

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
