From your experience how long was it before you feel like you can get up out of bed and start doing everyday normal things like going to the grocery store, cleaning the house, ect... ? My surgeon gave me 3 weeks off work so makes me wonder. My surgery is tomorrow so I have a lot of questions and things going thru my mind right now lol

Hi, I'm 8 days post op and was wondering the same thing. I started walking ( just about 5 houses down and back) 4 days post op, and am only about 10 houses down now. I have yet to really feel like getting out or running short errands with my husband. I think I'm going to try, though, today. Maybe just to the post office and back. When did everyone feel most themselves, and were out and about and driving without issues? I know everyone is different, but an idea??

I started walking a few hours after my surgery. It really helped with the gas and getting back to normal.

I had a rough few days but I felt drastically different on Day Five.

I quit all pain meds on Day Five.

I went grocery shopping on Day Six (about 1 hour) and felt pretty tired afterwards.

I went Christmas Shopping on Day Seven (about 3 hours) and felt okay.

In my personal experience, I feel almost back to normal after just one week :)

My surgeon wouldn't let me go home until I was able to walk around in recovery room. Then stressed to walk around once I got home. So the day after surgery I was up walking around the house every couple of hours and by day two I was walking to the mailbox and back and by day 5 was walking 3-4 houses down. It really helps with the gas pains and to get your bowels moving again. Also you don't want to develop bllod clots in your legs which can go to your lungs, heart. Plus it makes you feel a lot better to get up and move instead of sitting/lying around. Good Luck and keep us post after surgery. See ya on the losers side.

Had my surgery on a Thursday am, was home Friday by noon, out Monday grocery shopping etc. Everyone is different, I have a pretty high pain tolerance tho. Your body will tell you, trust me!

I walked in the corridors of the hospital the first evening after surgery. It's so important to help with the gas. The first week I was totally exhausted. I remember being in the grocery store, needing to go a couple of more places, and telling hubby that I just can't do it. I wanted to go home.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
