WOW, 40 is awesome. AWESOME. Think back to before your sleeve. Pretend you did any conventional diet of your choice. Would there be ANY WAY that you would have been down 40 in 8 weeks on a DIET? Heck no!! So this is sweet sweet victory. You have lost a small child. Next time you see a 4 or 5 year old, worm your way over, pick that kid up and rejoice!!!

Don't look at it as "I only" lost 40lbs, look as "I LOST" 40lbs....... In your past how long has it taken you to lose 40lbs and how long did it actually stay gone?????

A lot of it has to do with THE WAY we look at things. You should totally be celebrating your 40lbs lost........... You should be very proud of yourself for all your hard work :}

I am 8 weeks and 38 lbs down, I think we are pretty normal I started at 240. I think we see a lot of people who lose massive weight so quick that we expect that but 40 is still a ton in a short amount of time. My doctor is pleased and said it is healthily and normal. I think mine is because I am not working out hard enough and I am over 40. If I had this done when I was 18 I bet I would have lost more by this time.

I know eactly how you feel. I just started week 8 and am down 40.2 pounds. I thought by now I would have lost more but sometimes we need to Celebrate the accomplishments that we have made. It was almost two weeks that I went back and forth two pounds and today I finally feel like I'm making progress again. Cheer up and look forward to more progress soon. Hang in there. We can do this.

I'm almost at 8 weeks and I've lost 32 lbs. That is 32 lbs that are not on me anymore and I am very happy about that. Do I wish it would go away faster? Sure. But how long was it apparently OK for me to carry all of that fat around? How long did it take to get there?

8 weeks is a very short time period. You should Celebrate your success instead of beating yourself up or feeling sorry for yourself.

It is frustrating to see someone post that they lost FORTY pounds in 8 weeks and they are sad. That is 5 pounds a week...impossible without this surgery.

I had a NUT tell me to think of one pound as four sticks of butter! So that is 160 sticks of butter you are not carrying around!! You are doing awesome!!

7 weeks post op tomorrow down 30lbs. I am happy! I don't understand when people are upset with their progress. You had VSG no RNY. Your weight loss is realistic for your procedure. Embrace your changes because I know you see them. I see mine at 30lbs. Can I ask you what you thought you would lose by 8 weeks post op? Just curious to what your expectations were.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
