If you can't do the prepping diet how will you survive the post-op diet. TOU WILL NOT SURVIVE. YOU MAY WANT TO RETHINK THIS WHOLE THING!!!

Wow, that was very rude and disrespectful. Just because I'm struggling with a pre-op diet doesn't mean I won't be strong enough to handle the post-op diet. There is a HUGE difference between the two, and if you knew anything about the sleeve process, you would understand that. I went from a 3,000 calorie diet to 700 calorie diet overnight, on top of quitting smoking at the same time. I'm a fighter and I'm strong so I'm proud of how far I've come along, regardless of how hard it is.

I don't appreciate your negativity and condescension so please don't respond to my posts any longer unless you have something nice to say. This is a support group, not a bashing ring. I don't need your judgment.

How you hanging in there? I thought I was the only one with a strict liquid only pre-op diet but you beat me.... Mine is 1000 calories of full liquids Protein Shakes, (50-70 Grams of protein) light yogurt fat free Jello and pudding creamed Soups If they are chunky I was instructed to put them in a blender and strain them all the tea crystal light and clear broth I want.... Today is my third day and I've surprised my self because I'm doing really good!! I haven't even done the full 1000 calories and am not starving....yet

Oh yeah lucky me they moved surgery up a week so I only have a 6 day full liquid and 2 day clear liquid

I've drank the RTD( ready to drink) muscle milk in vanilla and chocolate icy cold they are very good and the way the containers are made you can't really smell the Protein

Also on the powders I used coconut milk from fresh and easy and I liked the creaminess kind of Like a milk shake

I'm gonna make some Caldo de res ( beef stew ) for the family today and blend some of the veggies with the broth and that'll be my dinner...

Keep up the good work mind over matter keep yourself busy and just think that the more you loose will affect the numbers right after surgery atleast that is what keeps me going

Best of luck

Michelle

I'm very new to this board and my doctor only has me doing the pre-op diet for five days. Is that common? I also wasn't told I had to lose any weight. I figure I can stand anything for five days so shouldn't be too bad.

Welcome....Today, I have started my 2 week pre-op liquid diet. I've made it to noon, just finished my shake and opted for a super hot shower to try to kill the carb/sugar withdrawals that I am already experiencing! Ugh!! Hope this passes quickly.

To answer your question,on this site alone there seems to be a wide range of pre-op diets and time frames that have prescribed depending upon the clinic, surgeon, or nutritionist that people are working with.

I start the pre-op diet on Tuesday. My doctor actually requires 14 days. I'm super excited to get through it and have the surgery. Good luck to all of you.

I am not a big fan of the Protein Shakes. But I have tried several, and I really like Unjury and Isopure. What is your post op diet like? I know for the first two weeks post op for me, is only liquids. But they still want me to get in 80 grams of Protein.< /p>

I'm hanging in there! I've lost about 14 pounds in one week, not too shabby. I don't really miss food too much, I just hate the feeling of being hungry all day. I bought the Protein powder directly through my doctor's office and it's actually not too bad. It's called Bariatric Advantage and I have the vanilla & banana flavors. Other than that, i've just been living on broth and juice.

I only have 9 days left until my surgery so I'm motivated to keep this going for optimal results!

I wish I was having that caldo with you! I miss my mexican food so much! I want some flatuas and sopes....mmmm! LOL

Good luck with your surgery! Hope all goes well!

My post-op diet is split up into stages. I can have liquids for the first 2 weeks, then mushy or pureed food for 2 weeks, and then slowly try regular food as long as my stomach can handle it.

My protein is Bariatric Advantage, it's pretty good. As good as protein gets LOL

Thank you Mich Grand. I apologize for misunderstanding your message. The way it was written kind of seemed like an attack. Thank you for your kind words, I appreciate you reaching out again. I also wish you the best of luck. If you continue to have doubts or have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! :)

My diet is 14 days liquid pre-op, I do 3 Protein Shakes a day Premiere Protein from Sams club its doable. sugar free Jello, sugar-free poposicles, broth, cream Soups blended, crystal light, tea and coffee, diet v8 splash. Im on day 6 doing ok so far, My body has been going through a cleansing. It is suppose to be different after surgery you want be as hungry and wont be able to hold as much either. Looking at the things others can have makes me want to cheat but i'm afraid to. If anything goes wrong I wanna be able to say i did everything my doc said.at least, I would blame myself otherwise. Good luck and hang in there. Sandra

I'm doing much better. The first 3 days were the hardest but it's tolerable now. I know I'm doing this for a reason so I'm trying to stay strong. Having a great support system helps too!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
