Dallas, Texas Sleevers! !

Recommended Posts

I am told there is a support group meeting at Baylor Plano the 2nd wednesday of every month.

I am also wondering the possibility of putting together our own area support group meeting. Is it necessary to have a nutrionist or a psychiatrist running these groups? Or could a group of sleeve patients just gather and sit around and talk about things and learn from one another?

I think it would be great for us to just get together and chit chat!

I am a patient of Dr. Davidson in North Dallas. I will have to have my surgery at Presbyterian Hospital. Anyone have any experience with either?

Dr. Stowers in Decatur...I am from Comanche Texas. I am 5'7" and started 235- down to 204.5 in 4 weeks.....

Our starting BMIs are about the same. What is your goal weight? I really only want to lose to about 170.

rorie,

My surgery was done at Presby. Great hospital, but the accommodations are a bit outdated. The nursing care is great. No complaints!

Hi theamarie;

First, welcome to Dallas! Secondly, there is a support group that meets the 2nd Wednesday of the month at Forst Park Medical Center. I believe it starts at 7:00.

Personally, i don't feel once a month is enough and am thinking of starting a support group in the North Dallas/Richardson/Plano area. I think that an informal gathering of sleeved patients as well as those thinking about it would be awesome. The other support groups are led by Nurse Practitioners, nutritionists, etc. and that information is great, but I think talking in a smaller group setting would be beneficial for many.

Hello All! I was sleeved by Dr. James Davidson at Forest Park Medical on May 19, 2011. I started at 220 lbs the day of my surgery. I lost twenty pounds prior to surgery. I'm currently 148 lbs and loving it! I wouldn't trade my sleeve for anything. Going into my second year, so if you have questions please feel free to contact this Garland TexAs resident.

The next support group meeting is the 13th, so let's use that as a platform to catapult a monthly (or more often) Saturday lunch get together. My son will be in town on the 16th, so let's go for the 23rd.

What part of the DFW is central to most that would be interested? I'm in Plano, myself.. and was thinking of Season's 52 nearly Legacy and the Tollway because everything there is so healthy and low calorie. I was going to call a manager there or wherever we choose and kind of work with them to maybe cater to our sleeve needs.

Anyone interested feel free to respond here, or message me,

Kevin

Hi all, I'm getting sleeved on the 26th of February by Dr. David Kim at Baylor Hospital in Trophy Club. Has anyone had experiences with either the doctor or the location?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
