Vsg In Minneapolis Area?

Recommended Posts

I'm from MN, too, but in AZ for winter. My sister had surgery at Park Nicollet with Dr. Svendsen - he was awesome and her surgery went without a single hitch. She has gone from 205 - 166 in about 7-8 weeks. I wanted to see him too, but they have a strict criteria and my bmi is not high enough.

I know MN has some great bariatric surgeons, between the U of MN, PN, mayo, etc..

I just had my sleeve done on 2-11-13. My surgery was done by Dr Baker at Unity Hospital in Fridley. The one thing I really liked about where I did my surgery was the day you leave the hospital you have your doctors pager number and can call it anytime. Makes me feel less nervous.

I'm getting mine done at Unity too, probably with Dr. July. I liked her attitude and sense of humor when I went to the info session, and the staff there are kind and love to laugh. Not sure on dates yet.

Dr Ikramuddin performed my surgery on April 15, 2013. He's an excellent doctor but he's kinda like a drive by. So if your looking for a touchy feely kinda doctor he might not be the one. I was a bad to sleeve revision and everything is going well so far.

Does anyone know where you can buy unjury products?

Dr Rupp from St Paul Surgeons did mine one year ago. It was the best decision I ever made. I lost weight very rapidly at first and now it has been very slow. I'm about half way to my goal. I haven't had any major problems. I had a hard time when I started loosing my hair, but it is starting to come back. I'm lucky I had really thick hair because I lost about half of my hair. It got really thin. I don't think it was very noticable to most people, but it was to me. The other thing I am still learning everyday- is that I may have a new body- smaller and stronger- but my brain is still the same. I still crave the same things- I usually can talk myself out of them, but sometimes I give in. So glad that now, a couple bites satisfies the craving and I can get back on track. I don't go to the support meetings, maybe I should. I think it would help to have the support .

Hey everyone! I was sleeved last Friday, May 24th and I have been so surprised with the quick rebound from surgery... I'm feeling really good already! It's not all rainbows and unicorns but it sure beats what I was expecting. Dr. Leslie and the staff at the UofM Fairview were great. I was out on Sunday morning and have me first post-op tomorrow AM.

Hi everyone' date=' I just signed up for this site today with the hope that there were others from the state on here. Happy to see that there are! I live in southern MN (Albert Lea area) and have just started the process with the surgery team at the U of M Medical Center. My tentative surgery date is at the end of April. I have to lose 20 lbs by then so that's challenge #1. Thank you all for sharing your stories on here, exactly what I needed to keep the hope. :)[/quote']

I was sleeved on May 6th, I used Dr. Daniel Leslie. He is at the U of M and Abbott Northwestern. He is great!

Hello all ????

My surgery is set for July 26th by Dr.Leslie at the U of M, Fairview. I live in the Twin Cities. Has anyone started a Twin Cities or Minnesota Facebook Support page?

Are ther any local support groups to meet and greet? Another question who did you feel first day or two after surgery. I'm not good coming out of anesthesia, that is what scares me the most.

I'd love to meet locals who understand since I'd am the only one out of friends and family who will have done something like this.

I'm very excited to started my new life.

Looking forward to hearing more from you all.

Shari

Hi, I live near Methodist Hospital and I had my surgery done there and Dr Jones and his staff were very supportive and wonderful!

I highly recommend getting Vertical Sleeve Surgery at Methodist Hospital in St Louis Park MN.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
