2 Week Pre-Op Diet - I Call Bullsh**t

So I started my 2 week pre-op diet yesterday and we had the nutrition class on Tuesday p.m. Well we got this booklet and a page devoted to our pre-op diet where on top it says, and I quote, "800 calorie liquid diet."

I am allowed the 3 Ru-Tein Protein shakes with 8 oz skim milk, 4 cups of lettuce with 2 Tblsp of a light dressing, 1 light yogurt, 2 cups of chicken or beef broth, and 2 jellos.

After entering everything into my diet section of MyFitnessPal - it says I'm consuming ONLY 702 calories - Not 800.

That's a big deal when they are bringing you down so low!!! :)

So I call Bullshit!

If I get too hungry on any given day I'm just going to add a little more of the lettuce or the chicken broth!:)

Good Luck to everyone else out there.

P.S. - even just consuming 702 calories yesterday - wasn't that bad. I'm holding off my first shake until I'm actually hungry and I'm spacing out what I can have throughout the day.

I just quit smoking so I'm struggling not to gain weight by going on a modified pre op diet. Once I get to my real pre op diet it will be a piece of cake. Ha.

I also started my 2 weeks pre-op on Thursday. I am allowed 1200 calories a day. Anything from a lean cusine meal for lunch or a shake if you choose. Then 2 days before the surgery, which for me is November 9, you go on the liquid diet. The at 2 pm the day before surgery kind of a colon clense. After reading this I feel VERY fortunate to be able to still eat normal foods before the surgery just in much smaller portions, and I feel that I am so ready for a change that I am not feeling deprived or cheated.

I'm november 9th also ! I tarted my diet Friday morning. I can have three injury protein shakes with fat free milk, one 300 calorie 17 grams protein meal and sugar free jello and sugar free popsicle. Oh, caffeine free coffee, tea and propel or zero vitamin water. The zero vitamin water tastes horrible.
