November Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

I wanted to ask you guys. I know I have only received one fill and am scheduled to get my second on Sat. but do you guys still feel hungry. I am just feeling so hungry lately. I am wondering if I should take some dexatrim powder they have to put in Water now. Something to help me not feel so hungry. I thought that getting this band was going to stop my hunger but it did at first but now back big time. Does that just mean that it is time for a fill and that will make the hunger go away? I just don't know. I am just struggling with will power right now.

My doctor says yes to this. He feels if you are starting to graze for food, are hungry more often and eating larger portions, you need an adjustment. Now that I am adjusted fine I am not hungry, don't graze and can usually eat a correct portion of food. I think when it is right, you feel right.

I know when I had my first fill it was too tight at first and I know how you feel. What helped me get threw it was the premade Protein Shakes from Vitamin store watered down with hot Water and I would sip them. I then got the powder of veggie and fruit suppliment and put it in hot water then some strong juice to sip and that really helped give me some energy like a caffenine boost. Make sure you are getting your chewable Multivitamin each day. Sip water all day long to get the H2O. It is hard but if you have no saline and you didn't feel like this when the band was first put in you really need to go see your Dr. Do you get that gurgle sound when you sip liquids. I got that when I was too tight. It was wierd. I think everyone's advice at this point is call the DR. I bet he will want to see you ASAP. Good luck

I think I am going to try to get thru the night. I got a few sips of gatoraid down, and if it is not better in the am, I will call. Usually the am is better. I will stick to fluids tommorrow, and see where I end up. Crappy thing, is that I have a big test on Thursday, and I do not have time to feel this bad!!!

It actually hurts!

:cry

But, damn I am looking good... lol

My mother always used to say, "Beauty hurts!"

UGH!

Misty

By the way, thanks for all your help, you guys are the greatest!

Vikki--I think that you will feel better after you get a fill. I am getting another fill next Monday because I am getting hungry now too. I will have a small snack in between meals if I get really hungry though. I don't see anything wrong with that. Also, maybe try eating more high Fiber foods--they will keep you full much longer. One of my favorite things is a small Wendy's chili--that will keep me full for hours and is only $1.28! But I do think a fill will help you. Well, I decided to change my son's grounding to a month, but he still does not get to go to prom. He is still pretty pissed about that, but oh well. I told him that if he started giving me crap about not going to prom, or anything else, we would go right back to being grounded till his birthday. I have a feeling he will be back there before long--he seems to have a hard time controlling his mouth!

Connie, he's male. We don't always know when to shut up. :omg: Add in that he's going through testerone overload, and he's thinking from between his legs. :faint: This will pass. In about 15 years. :heh:

MISty please go see your doctor today! You could lose your band if it has slipped and do not do something right now so they can fix the problem.

Hi everyone! I am back from a trip to Salem, Oregon to visit family for Easter. I had a great time, ate some stuff I shouldn't have, did a lot of shopping and am extremely happy to get home. There really is no place like home. I hadn't stepped on a scale for 5 days (I weigh every morning faithfully. I know I probably shouldn't but I am obsessed.) and didn't gain anything!! Yippee. I was sure I had gained a couple pounds and was shocked to see the scale hadn't gone up. I am back to regular eating habits today and hoping to make it to the gym today.

I hope you all had a great Easter.

Angela- I didn't see the link to your Paris pictures on your post. Will you post again?

Well, my weight loss has temporarily slowed down, so I needed a boost. I was shopping with a friend yesterday and I got one! I went into Coldwater Creek and tried on some things that were XL instead of plus sizes, and they fit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( I didn't buy any...trying to wait until I'm at my goal weight before investing, but when I got home, I went ahead and ordered a few pieces on line anyway.... )

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
