November Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Good things....well, I did only eat half of my (small) lunch today. My mind wanted all of it but I listened to my body and it said no. Sometimes I'm not all that good at listening to my body; guess that's what got me in this shape. :phanvan

Anyway, I didn't get new pics taken last night but today I am wearing my new jeans so I'll have hubby take them when I get home. Hope the pictures look as good as I am wanting them to......The real good pics are a ways down the road but I will make it there eventually. :heh:

Here's some of my positive thoughts for the day:

I have been to the gym 12 out of the last 13 days!

Today I skipped going out to lunch (oh sooooo tempting!)and walked two miles instead, then came back and had an apple and cheese. That would of NEVER happened before!

I am set up to work with someone at the gym to learn free weights on Saturday. I have been gung ho on the elyptical and stairmaster, but need to start working on definition.

I am thrilled I did this and can't wait to see myself in a year!!! :)

Tom,

You are doing great on your weight loss. You might have had a plateau or two, but all in all you are doing awesome.

Do you have any pics of your pups? I love animals.

The doctor wasn't upset by the one pound in 3 weeks as it was 14 pounds in 6 weeks which averaging 2 pounds a week. He only expects 1 pound a week with the band so I'm exceeding his expectations. While I know this, it was still a bit disappointing but was thrilled with the 5 pounds the next week!

Here's a 3 year old picture of the 5 year old. Don't have one of the new puppy yet and have to find the one of the Corgi.

CHALLENGE FOR NOVEMBER BANDSTERS!!!!!!!!

Everybody write one email here that says only everything you did right, small and big. Hesitating before taking that bite counts. Drinking Water counts. Telling yourself something encouraging counts. ONE COMPLETE EMAIL ABUT GOOD STUFF< NO MATTER HOW TINY.

We gotta get used to doing that anyway, and we're not naturally inclined to be positive about our eating, ladies. We've had too many failures...Let's teach ourselves to focus on good, at least some of the time.

BetsyJAne I think it is a wonderful idea!!!!:clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Ok, here are my pics. The first set is the night before surgery and the others are last night; almost 2 months post-op. I see some difference but not as much as I would like. I do notice more changes in the side shots then the front shots. My hubby had to point some of my changes out to me. I can't wait until I am actually happy to see a picture of myself! Does anyone else have some progress pics they want to share? :)

Denise...I see it! Your stomach has gone down. Look at your chin too. You are smiling in last nights pictures too.

Good! I am so happy to hear that you can see it. In some weird way, that makes me feel better. I can't explain why but it does...maybe it is because I am so self-conscious; does that make sense? I am much happier now then I was 2 months ago!

NO one has noticed my weight loss. It does bother me. I am very very self-conscious. I am hoping that when and if I loss 50 someone will notice.

prbrooksie! Get a new outfit!

I did...I bought 3 new pairs of pants in a size 20 because the 24 were falling off...still no one noticed.

I think when I get under what I have been bouncing back and forth with 30 pounds for the last 5 years someone will notice.

I am sitting here reading some other post on slippages and debanding..etc. Well...stupid me! It has been a concern of mine, but I am all freaked out now. If I have problems with this band I am going to be in deep trouble. My insurance will not pay for anything and I have no money left. Just call me paranoid! Why do these people have problems...what causes slippages and infections?

I was just thinking about diet pills this morning! hoodia actually. My big concern is that I always end up starving later and regain the weight.....

no one noticed from a 24 to a 20!!!! and that's a huge drop! Maybe you need new friends! That's such an amazing success!

Slippages and erosions scare me too. All I can figure is to stick as closely to the program as I can, know tha teveryone goofs up, and try to remember that the actual percentage of problems is amazingly small small small. I'm in the same position. I was self pay and the well is dry!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
