November Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

I think one reason for all the emotions is that we've all been so bad at losing weight in the past. It's a core issue for us. Now, as we await first fills, we're anxious about again not losing weight well...scared about whether we will stretch our pouches, cause slippage...not behave well with the fill. I have all those thoughts, anyway. I also have thoughts of great joy and anticipation. All of that seems pretty normal to me, given who we are and where we've been in life. PS...my first fill is a week from tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

I will say this....whoever on this site talked about Muscle Milk Light....sure helped me! It's the only Protein Shake I find to be REALLY filling! and creamy and chocolatey..... But I can only find the Light on ebay....

Hello Everyone!

I hope that you are all having a great start to your Monday. Through reading some of your posts though, I know that you are having a difficult time. :phanvan This is a very very difficult time and dont feel bad for your struggles, we are all going through major major changes, but at this time we are not physically seeing them. It will happen though. We will lose weight. Even after our failures at other weight loss attempts, we will lose weight through this tool. I know it is hard, I am right there along with you all, but try to stay positive and we will be here to help you pick yourself up. Have a great day! :D

Hi everyone! I was banded on the 29th (Wednesday) and I have to say that whoever posted they were out shopping the same day must have been on some awesome drugs! Thankfully I was out of the hospital the same day, but the rest is a haze. And I was pretty much out of it for a few days after.

Whoever posted the idea about buying a granny house dress is a genius! My husband thought I was nuts, but it was so comfortable for the ride home (4 hours) and when my husband would stop and make me walk every hour, I was covered up and not self conscious about no bra.

The worst part of the surgery for me was when they took my blood for the blood oxygen test. They had to find an artery, so he went in my wrist and wiggled the needle all over the place and I nearly passed out. I'm still really bruised.

I've lost 15 pounds, and I think I'm a little dehydrated, but I'm working on that. I'm also back to work today and just a little uncomfortable sitting at my desk. I brought in my Protein Shakes and yogurt smoothies, and yesterday I got really crazy and had soft-boiled eggs for Breakfast. Then when my husband nuked some lasagna for dinner I had a few spoonfuls of the sauce at the bottom - it was heaven!

apinksoprano - please don't be discouraged by your online dating experience. I remember when I was 140 pounds and guys would call me fat. I'd get so upset. Then a couple of years ago I was taking a class, and the girl in front of me was maybe a size 3 - and she had brought an ice cream bar to class. And one of the guys next to her told her she shouldn't eat it - she was getting fat. So she got up and threw it away. I was so pissed, and she was hurt - and now I know that when other people put you down - it's a control thing. It's not personal - they're just a-holes. So hang in there. Someday you'll meet someone wonderful who will love you regardless of your size. I did - and I'm never letting him go :-)

Dani

Bravo, Dani! When people are upset with us, it's because it reminds them of their own issues...whether control issues or appearance issues! On my good days, I remember that!

Glad I didnt have to go through the arterial thing! For me, the worst part was that I was so sick from the anaesthetic for a few hours after surgery, and trying sooo hard not to throw up! After I got home, I slept for hours and felt so much better. Then all I had to deal with is that painful gas. Otherwise my recovery was a piece of cake! (Hmmm....I'll have to come up with new non-food expressions....)

In keeping with our need or additional exercise too, how about a "walk in the park?" :heh:

A walk in the park is great!

Today, I'm graeful for 50 degrees and sunny skies here, and a wonderful ranch to walk around on, followed by my pet fallow deer, dogs, cats, miniature horses and miniature goats. Being thin will really top it off!

For those with a sweet tooth that need a fix, I made Peanut Butter Cookies yesterday. They were quite simple and, in moderation, perfectly legal once you're off the liquid phase of the post-surgery diet.

Take 1 cup of peanut butter (I'd use smooth until you're off mushies), 1 cup of Splenda and 1 egg. Mix well and drop by spoonfuls (if you make 16 cookies, each cookie will be equal to 1 tablespoon of peanut butter) on to a cookie sheet sprayed with cooking spray, flatten in a criss-cross pattern with a fork dipped in Splenda and bake for 8-10 mintues at 350. (They taste better cool than they do hot.)

Peanut butter is high in Protein so as long as you use moderately (it's also high in fat), it should be fine. Each cookie would have about 4 grams of protein from the peanut butter and a bit less than .5 gram from the egg. It's about 100 calories so not a low calorie food but would make a nice between meal high-protein snack with 4 ounces of skim milk. The toughest part is limiting to one cookie per day! (I did cheat and had 2.5 yesterday. I tried one warm. When I was putting them away, one broke so I HAD to heat the half that didn't go in the baggie. I then had one as my mid-afternoon snack.) Not as good as a big "real" cookie but certainly scratched an itch for something sweet.

Tom

Tom, sounds like a great recipe....but can't we eat 4 and call it a "meal"?? (Can you tell that bingeing is my issue??) :faint:

Thanks for the hint!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
