I am sooooooo PMSing. I want to eat everything in site. I just at a bagel (the first bread I've had since 11/2). I feel terrible right now. My back is killing me between my shoulder blades. It all started after the bagel. I think it swelled up inside...LOL.

I hate the treadmill too! I get through it with music, TV, whatever I can. It's going to be a hard habit to make.

I'm also worried that my Dr. is goin g to be disappointed...so I called their office yesterday whining that I wanted my first fill early, and they laughed and said that everybody says that...so I feel better.

Sorry about the pain...it was the bagel ;) I have been trying to sneak in mushies. It's funny during my TOM which I am on I seem to be more open and with more appettite as usual. I think it might be closing a bit again...I hope...I am trying to drink a thick smootjie and it is not going down as easy as yesterday. I will be careful with the mishies as I am supposed to be on liquids one more week!:faint:

What am I suppose to do? The pain is still here. Do I drink to wash it out?

Brooksie,

Drink just little sips of Water and move around so that it moves down. Walk a bit Drink warm drinks, not hot or cold. Warm tea...if you dip bread into warm tea you can see how esily it dissolves, so try that in sips and move. For now also take a bit of liquid tylenol. I hope you feel better soon!

Denise, I am another Nov. 8 Bandster.... I am wondering about your meals, did you mean that you are only supposed to eat 3 meals a day, of 4 oz each? I am supposed to eat something every 2 hours, that helps alot!! I start the 3 meals plus Snacks next week. It is no wonder you cheated with so few meals! Please don't beat yourself up! I would increase the amount of meals you have each day and keep your Protein level up....You will do fine, but this is a huge adjustment and you need to find what works for you!! Hang in there!!

Karen

Yep, 3 meals a day and only 4 oz. each. I also am to have 2 Protein Shakes a day at 4 oz. each. One between Breakfast and lunch and one between lunch and supper. That's it. It has been hard. At first it wasn't too bad but I think that was because I was full of gas and didn't feel like eating anyway. I go back next Tuesday to meet with my dietician and also my surgeon. They will be moving me to mushie foods then but I am sure I will be on the same schedule. I'll make it...somehow. I have done much better today. Not perfect by any means, but close. ;) Thanks for the words of encouragement donamarie & Karen! I am so thankful for LBT. I couldn't do this without you all!

Denise,

I am sure you can increase the size of the Protein shakes, ,,they are thin an go through asily..will NOT stretch the pouch. Add extra protein to them to keep you full. Besides you shouls be getting at least 800 cals per day and at least 60 grams of protein per day, Good luck!

Well, I know for sure that I am not getting 800 cals a day. It is interesting to read about other doctors eating plans. I should try the extra protein and see how I do. I thought that maybe the eating plan was so strict for just me because I have so much to lose but it's not, that's their normal diet plan. He too has had the surgery so I know he knows what I am going through. I have been told by other people that my body is probably in starvation mode so I'll have to talk to him about it next week and see if this is normal.

Thanks!

Denise

It's amazing how much difference a week makes. I was banded last Monday 11/13 and this past Sunday while sleeping noticed a big difference in how much my stomach didn't hurt. I didn't take any pain meds yesterday or today and it's very tolerable. It feels good like I on my way to feeling normal again. I've lost 9.5 lbs as of today - 8 days after surgery and that's exciting. I know it will start slowing down but still it helps my motivation. I see my doctor for my first post op visit on 12/2 and hopefully I'll get a fill off some sorts.

One thing is I'm always burping! Small little ones - continuously. Why is this??? Will this continue????

Aloha

Lea

I think I burp for a long time if I don't chew everything totally to liquid, or gulp too big a gulp. Not sure, but we were banded the same day and it sounds like our recovery is very similar.

Lea,

Congrats on doing so well so soon after surgery! I have heard of others who burp continuously afterwards, but I haven't experienced that at all. Maybe you could ask on a different thread, like "Pre-op and Post-op Questions", and find the answer. In any case, you are doing great and I am happy for you. WTG on the quick weight loss!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
