You're still in pain? Have you spoken to your doctor? If you have your surgery in a clinic, is that outpatient?

It just seems odd that you'd still be in pain. I had my surgery a day after yours and I haven't been in much pain. My doc manages pain well.

I am feeling better today. The surgery was done in a surgery center.

How are you feeling, hopefully after the drain is remove you'll feel better. Dr. Duncan did my surgery as well at Atlanta Medical Center.

Hi Teachbear...has your Jp drain been removed? How are you feeling today?

I live in Marietta. I did check to see if there was a current group but the only one that I see that really needs with any regularity is real results.

Hi Teachbear...has your Jp drain been removed? How are you feeling today?

I had a lot pain too. Did you have a hernia repair, if so that can cause lots of PAIN. I went to see my primary care doctor and she said that the hernia and gas is probably where the bulk of my pain came from....... I had to have my drain in for 10 days and it was hell! Even when I went for my 2 week check up, their was a guy there who was still experiencing some discomfort from that spot too. Think about where its located, that too has a lot to do with it. Mine was right below my boob.... Also, if you had any other surgeries, as this was my 3rd going into my belly button the scar tissue can slow down the healing process............with all that said, you aren't alone. it's only been 6days and while there are lots of people on here who bounce back very fast, we are all different. It gets BETTER!!! Trust me I felt the same as you did at this point and even the doctor said that I was being unrealistic in my expectations on healing.

I'm 2months and 2 days post op, and I feel great!!! ((((Hugs)))) I'm here for you.

Thanks for the advice. This is my first time having surgery so I am not use to pain. I am feeeling better. I hope you have contiune success with your weight journey.

Hi ATL sleevers! I'm Roswell!!! I'm having surgery tomorrow through Emory - they have a support group that meets once a month that I was planning on attending - but I would like something closer! I liked the idea that one person had about having a get together... we are all in this together - so we should "get" together :-)!!!

Oh wow! Surgery tomorrow! You must be excited and maybe a little nervous. Will be thinking of you. I live five minutes from the hospital. :)

On a separate note, I cannot express how disappointed I am with my PCP's office. I have been awaiting my clearance letter for almost a month now. They've dropped the ball on a couple of things and from there excuses excuses. I am now having to wait on one of her staff members to return from leave to compose the letter. She is out having the same type of surgery!!!! and will be back Wed. Meanwhile I can't even get my advocate to call me back, just keep getting the call center staff. SMDH ...Does anyone give a f%#@ anymore?! ugh

Welcome Sheree, Im actually with Atlanta Bariatrics and Dr. Titus Duncan is my surgeon but I think there are a few ppl here that went through that organization. I would check back through the threads and maybe direct the question to specific ppl. Good luck and again welcome, glad to have you!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
