Oh no please dont tell me that. I will be happy to lose weight but my hair? ?? I did just get a short haircut in preperation...as I have always had long hair....I was hoping that shorter hair would allow me to hide hairloss better but if not...I'll just own it...lol

I started to lose my hair at 2.5 months out in fists full. I started to take a supplement (chewable) from GNC called b-beautiful and it helped but not with Hair loss but with regrowth. It is kind of pricey but it goes on sale and I stock up

The best part is that it stops and all my hair is back just as it was before. Short time side effect and well worth the healthy life!

I have heard from numerous doctors that it will grow back. I am holding them to it!

I was told to take 28mg of zinc daily along with Biotin.

Google telogen effluvium.

Cliff Notes:

It's temporary

Literature says zinc (up to 200mg/day helps)

Personal experience:

I'm 12 weeks out and great with the hair but I eat about 125-130g Protein each day and am diligent about my Vitamins.

HOW do you manage to get 125-130gms of Protein in daily??? I am nowhere near surgery, but was trying to visualize 80gms yesterday and its a pretty stunning amount for a teeny tummy.

No one mentioned hair loss to me at all before my surgery. Now it's bugging me. I haven't noticed any Hair loss yet (I'm 2 months out). I'm eating my Protein and taking my multi-Vitamins. Is there still a chance I'll get it?

I hope everyone can get their hair back. I know it would freak me out to lose that much hair so quickly.

It is temporary! I take Biotin, zinc, and use Nioxon Shampoo and conditioner. Myself and 4 of my friends had the sleeve, we all got thin...very thin hair and we all are having it come back, yippee

Hmm, I am 4 1/2 months out and have had zero hairloss. The only Vitamins I take are a multi Vitamin, no extra anything. However, I have very slow growing hair and that is what allowed me to keep my hair during chemo and may be why I haven't experienced the hairloss that others have experienced.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
