I can be fat and happy... but I have high cholesterol and am infertile and surgery will fix that but still ... They are cutting out my stomach! What am I doing?! OMG!!! I am freaking out!

Take a deep breath, you can do this! I felt the same way sitting in a Mexican hospital by myself thinking what am I doing! It turned out to be the best decision. You will LOVE your sleeve I promise!!

I wish you well

When you say pre-op, which stage are you referring to? I felt the same way a few months ago when I had my 1st surgical appt. But things have opened my eyes along the way since then. I still feel it's radical, but I know now that I cannot do it alone.

I felt the same way and the next thing I knew I was in recovery, still groggy and thinking i had better hurry up and decide if I was going to do it or not.

I am 5 weeks out today and down 30 pounds! I know this weight is NEVER coming back this time. You can call it off and walk out, I thought about it too but then I thought that I would look back at all the people having the surgery and where their progress was vs. mine and I would be so sad I didn't take this opportunity to start a new life! I am glad I didn't back out. Good Luck to you!

I think we all feel that way at some point, and it's totally natural and normal. I felt it. But 7 months out and close to goal, able to eat almost anything, and not one regret.

Take a deep breath... you will be fine.

Good luck!

I have my pre-op tomorrow. It's how you know it's real. Next step is the surgery.

I agree that you can be fat and happy but will you remain happy the next 30 years of your life? Will you continue to have new weight related conditions that pop up during that time? To feel good enough to stay happy means you have to get that weight off. It's only a matter of time before bad things happen if you don't.

You need to read people's stories on here. Make a list of the pros and cons. And really take a serious look at your goals.

It IS a serious surgery. And it should NOT be taken lightly. Most of us are thrilled about the outcome. Many of us have had setbacks. You need to be positive and know that you'll be ok and that if set backs happen, then you will handle them as best you can. YOU need to make this decision for yourself, not for anyone else.

Good luck!

Do the pre-opt and learn every thing you can about this surgery. Keep yourself informed and weight the pro's and con's of having the surgery. Remember that a very few percentage of weight loss surgeries have complications. If you have a complication, then you deal with it when it happens. We have all been in your shoes prior to surgery and we all chose to walk this path. I love my sleeve and would do it over in a heart beat. :)

Emily, I know exactly what you mean. I have felt very confident that this was the right decision. However, when I was in PATT Friday going over everything for surgery this Wednesday ... stuff got real! But I'm still confident ... there is just this little voice going off in my head now.

This is so funny, because I was thinking the exact same thing. I thought: Maybe this is way too radical...But when I look at the pros and cons, I know this is the best route to go. This weight will NEVER come off any other way. I'm realistic of the potential challenges, but Im so ready to get this going, and move on with my life. You will be fine! I have 9 more days to go!! Yay!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
