I'm back!!

Well, my friends I am back from the Super Storm Sandy Aftermath. I had no power, heat, Water, phone, cable or internet for a week. Got it all back yesterday TG! It was rough, with 4 kids at home. We had a generator for the fridge, lamps, and hot plate, and the dvd player, bit our well pump is hardwired and we had no Water. Shlepping 10-20 gallons of water a day just to wash dishes and flush potties. Oh god.. I had two gigantic trees (40 and 60 foot spruces) fall on each of my properties. one on my garage, and one on my deck. Not near as bad as family in Jersey. My daughter was evacuated from her NYU housing, with no ability to go anywhere because of flooded train tracks. Things are slowly getting back to normal.

In the meantime, I have lost 23 pounds since my Oct 3 surgery, 43 pounds in all and My body is in Onederland!!!! 199 pounds today!!!

Still having issues with stopping before I am full. Made myself sick these past 2 days. I just love the taste of food and it is so hard to stop myself. I don't chew well enough either. I am having a problem with my gums bleeding, pretty sure its low Vitamin c. I am awful about remembering to take my Vitamins, especially after this mess. I am glad I am back, for some support and pushing to do the right thing.

My husband in front of half of the tree that fell on my deck.

Done Did It!

I'm glad to here that you are safe. Welcome back

I'm FINALLY on puree food. Yay! I have been eating a lot of chicken & eggs. I had a mashed baked potato the other day and it was so good :*) although it took an hour to eat half. Trying to eat as much Protein as possible so I don't have to drink the shakes. I need to find another brand because I can't stand the ones I drank for the last 3 weeks :*( Luckily I don't feel hungry at all I just try to eat a few times a day and I know when I start burping I'm full. No pain and feeling good 3 1/2 weeks out :*)

14 days post-op' date=' with 7 more days of full liquids to go (per Dr.) and I am going crazy! I am starting to have crazy food cravings. I tried blenderizing some canned chili with cottage cheese and a bit of sour cream. NO WAY will that work, its too spicy for my new pouch. <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' />

I must respect the pouch....[/quote']

Try black Beans with broth and fat free sour cream. Looks gross but it's good. DanActive has a good drinkable yogurt. Also try blending Soup. The best are the fresh made versions near your grocer's deli section. Good luck. I get soft foods in two days. I can't wait.

Yea. You will find there is a lot you can't handle. I became lactose intolerant and vomit every time I have eggs. Dairy products are my favorite so hoping the doc approves lactaid pills.

Me too!! I'm almost a month out and I can not stomach eggs at all. No matter if scrambled or boiled! And I love eggs!

Just went into my basement to grab some older smaller clothes to see if they fit. I have great racks of clothes barely used in a range of sizes (24-26 to 14-16) down there from all my weight loss ups and downs. Looks like a mini Lane Bryant/ Marshall's down there. Lol. Anyway, I just brought up a size 20 pair of pants just for curiosity and...THEY FIT!!!! Started this journey just barely fitting into size 24 pants and now this. WHOO HOO!!!

Had to share :-)

Just had my first dining out experience. Went to Olive Garden and got the Pasta fagioli Soup. Couldn't even finish one bowl! I was trying to get as much in as I could so it wouldn't be that obvious to the people I was with. No breadsticks though. They were tempting though.

Resisted a piece of toast and had cottage cheese instead. Getting really burned out on what I have been eating.

Me too.but I am trying different things with different results. I tried to eat the cheese off a slice of pizza today and it came right back up. Did eat some chicken in garlic sauce from the local asian place. Sat well felt good. I can eat 1 1/2 eggs, but i feel too full for a little while. I can usually eat 5 ounces of tuna salad or 3/4 of a chicken cultet. Beef and pork usually come up. Had some cheese tortalini, not bad. I love chicken wings without sauce. My stomach is hit or miss. Sometimes the smallest amount of food makes me vomit, sometimes food I fear might make me sick, feels good. I had my six week check yesterday lost 25 pounds, 46 all together. I dont eat simple carbs, but i dont obsess. I eat what I want, about 1/4 of what I would have eaten before. If it comes up, i dont try it again. Happy with my sleeve, still figuring out my limits.

I will be 7 weeks out on Monday. Surgery was October 1st. I am a few ounces shy of 30lbs loss. I think I am one of those "sleeve of steel" people. No issue with anything. My Nut had me eating one carb a day before 4. I have tried toast no issue. I love my egg whites with a half a slice of toast and 1 bacon. I have been out to eat with no issues. I have had tofu, chicken, ground beef, and fish. I am pleased thus far and have no regrets. I honestly feel quite normal. I eat more like my 6 year old and most often she eats a bit more than me!

@sleevenchica I am the same way. And very grateful for that. I have had no issues at all. No vomiting or the runs. I seem to digest everything perfectly. I had surgery oct 4 and am down 34lbs. Love that I did this.

Was sleeved Oct 24th, been off work this whole time. I resigned from a very stressful and sad job (pediatric cancer care) and will be starting a brand new job with totally new people TOMORROW! I'm both nervous and excited, but also concerned that I might not be ready to return to work. I've only been on soft solids since Wednesday and am still struggling to get all the liquids, Proteins, and Vitamin supplements in. My large incision area is still giving me some pains every once in awhile, and I tire pretty easily after activities such as grocery shopping and light cleaning around the house. The nervousness of starting a new job is a given, but I think that having a new stomach on top is starting to freak me out. I cannot put off going back to work any longer as my new manager has already been waiting a month for me. Ahhhh, I just need a little support right now and would appreciate any tips from those that have already been through the return to work phase. Thanks!

You'll do great!! Just have something to drink at the ready all day long and pace yourself.

Does your new supervisor know you had surgery? If yes, simply explain that your stamina still isn't 100% and you need a short break when necessary. Hide in the bathroom if you must, but take a few minutes to breathe deeply, close your eyes, lower your shoulders, relax your jaw and go to a happy place.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
