Question For 5 Days Out

Recommended Posts

My husband and I bought tickets to a concert before I scheduled my surgery. We are huge fans of Eric Church, and he is recording a live album in Chattanooga, TN which is about 30 minutes away. He's doing it at a historical theater, so there's not much room for standing and jumping around. Do you think I will feel like going or should I give up my ticket?

I have surgery Wednesday October 3rd. The concert is Monday October 8th.

I felt fine by that time and was on a 4 hour flight back home from Mexico but I also had minimal pain, no gas and no nausea... Everyone is different. I would encourage you to supplement your fluids by drinking some Gatorade G2 or Powerade Zero just so don't get the "run down" feeling that affects a lot of sleeve patients.

I didn't even think about getting Powerade or Gatorade. I will definitely do that. I think I will be okay to go. I will just have to make sure I walk a lot and get my fluids in!

I had surgery on Tuesday and walked all over the state fair that Friday. Just make sure you take your pain meds and you should be fine. Have fun!

See if you can bring along a bottle of G2 or Powerade with you to the concert. You might be quite thirsty and being at a concert is quite awhile to go without fluids! Just a thought! By the way, wishing you the Best of Luck!!!

I agree, I was sleeved on Wed the 26th and feel great. Drinking too fast makes me burp and gives me a gurgly feeling :) and my incision is really painful to touch on the left side. Other than that, I'm down 13lbs and loving life....Not hungry but sure wish I could eat lol

I'm so glad I'm not the only one that wants to eat!! I thought I was a freak!!! lol They say your appetite isn't supposed to come back for several months but all I've wanted to do since coming home is have something satisfying to eat. I'm down 13lbs down so far but the liquid diet is difficult. Try sugar free popsicles. They're great!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
