I have popcorn at the movies ...

Just not as much and only after being at goal.

This is not the end of our lives ... it is the new beginning.

Orville has a smart pop kettle corn that's 100 cals per (mini) bag...and it's really yummy! I smuggle my little baggie in and eat my treat just like all of the other movie-goers! :-) You've just got to find what works for you!

You have no food limits with a sleeve after you've advanced to the proper post stage diet. Have some popcorn! just don't load it down with as much butter and salt. Its now a life of controlled moderation...not forced misery. Remember that

popcorn and pretzel nuggets with jalapeno cheese sauce! I figure I'll be able to eat two of those, and be stuffed..which is ok, as long as I'm satisfied.

Trader joes has a light kennel corn in small portion bags that are actually pretty big! The bags are 120 calories per serving and I could only eat 1/2 and it hit the sack! Try it! It's yummy!

Oh my gosh, I was such a popcorn addict before surgery. I was especially drawn to the white cheddar varieties, but also loved theatre popcorn. It was probably my greatest weakness. Since surgery, I have not had any but oh do I remember. It does not seem to bother me to go to the movies where my sense of smell is now super heightened. Nor does it bother me to watch others eat it. I guess all it took was to break the habit in the name of not wanting to hurt the sleeve. Will I ever go back to eating popcorn? I am not sure. It could be both a slider and a weakness for me so it is best to just stay away if I cannot handle moderation. I was a serious glutton around the white cheddar variety before surgery, sometimes inhaling a full family size bag in one sitting. And then feeling incredibly guilty afterwards....

I went to the movies on Saturday night and was looking forward to popcorn but the cues were so damn long.

Just sat through a movie yesterday while my husband had buttered popcorn. It almost killed me but not one kernel touched these lips. Maybe when I hit goal.....

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
