3.5 Months Out - Bleeding

Recommended Posts

I woke up this morning fo my routine shower and hair washing. When I went to the bathroom soon after, there was alot of bright red blood on the toilet paper and streams of blood in the toilet. I went three other times at home and still the same result. I do have some abdominal pain but I worked out a little harder last night. So I knocked that up the mucle pain from the workout. Just went again from work and no blood, more of just mild stains of blood on the paper. Could this just be hemmoroids or something I should worry about?

I would go in a see you doc. There might be a bleed from your surgery that needs to be addressed. Better safe than sorry. :)

I don't think iggchick was being rude. I think she was trying to impart a sense of urgency. Blood isn't a wait-&-see thing.

Hope everything is okay!

It wouldn't be bright red if it was coming from your stomach. Bright red means fresh. It's most likely a hemroid or an anal fissure (tear- from straining) , but just to be sure, call your doc.

Agree. Bright red typically means it is close to or at the opening it is coming out of. This happens to me when I get constipated and have to struggle to go. A lot of times I do not see the blood until the time I go after the initial BM. Calling your doctor is always a good step. You never want to take a chance.

Definitely get this checked out ASAP. I had something similar earlier this year. It turned out to be hemorroids (getting old is a scourge), but the gastroenterologist also diagnosed me with diverticulosis. You need to make sure it isn't anything more serious. How is your Fiber intake? Are you taking Colace or something similar?

Have you had a colonoscopy recently? I can't imagine the preparation for one post-surgery.

I think most people that ask questions about symptoms on here are not expecting a diagnosis. Most are curious if their current problem is a common side effect or are wanting some sort of reassurance while waiting to hear from the doctor. Any symptom (even a headache) could potentially be life or death thus no one should ask ANY symptom related question on this forum. The rest of us idiots may kill them by just offering our experience with similar situations.

To the OP... a little bit of blood can look like a massacre in the toilet. I agree that it is most likely hemorrhoids or fissures but it does have potential to be a mass. The doctor can refer you for a colonoscopy or other diagnostic test to find out.

I had a colonoscopy about 4 years ago. It was fine. Not taking Colace. It has stopped since this morning but did gi give me a scare. If it starts up again, I'll have it checked...who do I go to? Family dr or gyno dr?

Depends on your insurance. As long as you don't have a "primary" doc that you have to see for a referral either can get you where you need to go. If it is rectal (not vaginal) a family doctor would be my personal choice. But if more comfortable with your GYN call em and ask if they can help. Talk to or leave a msg for the nurse at either... they can advise you from there once they speak with the doctor.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
