Recommended Posts

Just to get a general idea...what was your post op diet? Mine is 2 weeks liquids, 2 weeks pureed, and then solids. Is that pretty much everyone?

SO there are protien pills but it looks like they can only contain small amounts of Protein do to their size. There are 6 grams of protein in this chewable tablet per serving (serving size is 6 chewable pills) http://www.dietdirect.com/proteinex-chewable-protein-tablets.html. Hope that helps :)

Mine surgeon's plan is: Day 1 clear liquids, days 2-7 full liquids (protein shakes), days 8-14 mushies, weeks 3 and 4 soft foods, weeks 5 to goal... well... I haven't gotten that far, but I'm guessing it includes a more normal diet low in carbs and high in Protein. ;}

I was only on clear liquids for 4-5 days. Then full liquids (protein shakes, strained Soups, etc.) for about 3 weeks. After that I was on purees, but my list of allowed pureed foods also looked like other people's soft food lists (I was allowed to have soft cheeses, refried Beans, canned chicken/tuna without pureeing, etc.). That was another month. By month 3 I was released to most food within tolerance, with avoidance of raw veggies and things like popcorn, etc.

  1. Mine is a little different. 2 days clear liquids, 1 week full liquids, 1 week puree and 2 weeks soft foods, then reintroduce regular foods one at a time :)

Weird. I was on liquids in the hospital, soft stuff (mashed potatoes, yogurt, eggs, etc. ) for 2 weeks, then cleared with no restrictions other than "lots of Protein, eat small meals, no grazing, and keep it healthy". (I kinda feel like a fraud on here, I had a duodenal switch 7 weeks ago, but I assume the process is pretty much the same?)

2 days following surgery clear liquid

2 weeks full liquid (protein shakes, cream Soups, etc)

2 weeks pureed

2 weeks soft

After that is open depending on what I will be able to tolerate

      I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

        That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
