Love this!
And I'll add:
Never being concerned if I fit in the turnstile
Never needing a seatbelt extender on airplanes again
Never being afraid to sit on someone's dining room chair
-
Shortness of breath from just turning yourself over in bed
Arms that are too short to clean yourself properly
Clothing sizes that begin with X
Shame when you hear the whispers and giggles behind your back
The appetite of three people

Here are some of the snide comments I have received and my answers to them:
"STOP losing weight! You're getting too skinny!" "NO!!"
"I guess I'm the fat friend in the group now." "You don't have to be any friend in the group now."
"I can see your face now since all that blubber and chub is gone." "Stop paying so much attention to me. Good day."
"I've lost X amount of pounds on my own." "Oh...really? Well I have a little Fairy Godmother who pops out and slaps food out of my hand. I guess I didn't do it on my own..."
"WLS is the easy way out. " "It sure was! You jealous?"
As you can see, I'm a bit sarcastic.

MarKing15 reacted to gmanbat in Gained 6 Pounds And Happy....Yup, I put 6 pounds back on.
Am I upset?
Nope.
I know what I've been doing: squats, push-ups, bodyblade: http://www.bodyblade.com/en/, 1 hour walking a day. No change in diet.
My exercise routine had been put off long enough.
I knew that I lost some muscle mass during my rapid loss and that getting it back would tip the scales.
I anticipated gaining; muscles weigh more than fat but take up less space.
I look good...actually better.
Health and energy are the primary goals. Looking good sneaks in there too.
I will not allow myself to be oppressed by the slandering, digital indicator under my feet!

MarKing15 got a reaction from tropicalgal in Funny Yet Sad :)This is the number one reason I have kept my surgery from family and friends. Other than my wife and a few close friends, no one knows. I didn't want to have to justify myself at every turn or hear constantly what they thought I would never get to do again.
I'll make the necessary "I just had surgery" calls to family after my procedure and let my friends know as I see them.
Some may be upset, but I can live with that.
I've had enough to deal with myself over the last 6 months, I didn't want to add their drama as well.
YMMV.

I just received word that insurance has approved my surgery. I will be going in October 4th and have already lost 8 lbs. It doesn't seem like much, but I think I'm trading fat for muscle. I was really excited and wanted to share the news.

My standard restaurant protocol:
1. Order water--even if you're not going to drink it. It just keeps them from asking you over and over if you want a beverage.
2. When ordering, smile pleasantly at the waitperson and say, "I'd like the appetizer cup of French onion soup for my entree', please." If they say, "Will that be all?" or the less polite, "Is that all you want?", I say, again, with a pleasant smile, "Yep, that will do it!", hand them my menu, and turn my attention to my companions.
3. If a waitperson comes by and asks if there's something wrong with my soup, I just smile and say, "No, it's delicious! I'm just full," and leave it at that. I've noticed that since we end up going to the same places fairly routinely, the waitstaff get to know that I'm going to order one of a few things and that I will ALWAYS need a go-box.

MarKing15 reacted to Butterthebean in Bonofide Stall How Do You Break It?!Read the link in my sig. It will explain why you are stalling now. There isn't anything you need to do other than don't get frustrated. Continue working hard and the scale will start to move again when it's ready.

MarKing15 reacted to Wheetsin in Bonofide Stall How Do You Break It?!"3 week stall" (which really isn't a stall) is almost something we need to expect... but no one tells us about.
Honestly, don't try to break it. It's not really a stall, it's your body trying to adjust. You're seeing what goes in to your body, but you aren't seeing what's happening on the inside. Your body's kind of freaking out right now, trying to survive this famine. Your body doesn't know it's supposed to be eating less, your body just knows how to survive. To it, there's not much food, so it must be starving. Reserve energy "troops" are being mobilized out of bunkers like your liver and into your bloodstream. Your metabolism may have been given the order to lay low and avoid enemy fire. Your body is pulling resources like Fluid away from more well-fed troops and giving it to the ones who aren't doing so hot. All of this fluctuation is behind most things we call "stalls" (it's also behind most unexplainable or quick weight losses/gains).
Your body is doing exactly what it should do. Don't have a knee jerk reaction and try to "fix" something, because there's nothing wrong and nothing to fix. If you try to fix, you're just going to throw things off even more.
After about 5 or 6 weeks of this, then you can start looking at what you're doing and what you night be able to change, but even then you can do everything right and see no results. It's just a fact of being alive.

I am hoping this pre-op diet won't be too painful, but I will do whatever it takes! Any and all pointers or tips are welcomed!

You are absolutely correct. You dont "have" to tell anybody. But when you drop 100+lbs, don't or a minute think the people around you haven't figured it out. You are not keeping any secret.
In reality most people around that have daily interactions with you will wonder why you don't trust them enough to be open with them. While others will consider you disingenuous
I see a lot of postings on the tel, don't tell topic. I really don't care what you choose, but don't for 1minute think that you are fooling anybody.

Worrying about everyone made you fat? I thought it was eating. My nutritionist is a lying b***h.

MarKing15 reacted to O.T.R. sleever in Macho Cheese DoritosMost people are cleared for full foods somewhere between 4-8 weeks from surgery(Doritos would fall into this category) the staple line isn't considered fully healed till 6weeks post op, so I would at least wait till then.
Now that I have answered your "technical" question I would like to add
Carbs(white carbs)like chips trigger cravings. The more of them you eat, the more you want. So I strongly recommend stayin as far away from these as you can
If you just can't resist then I recommend you buy the smallest bag you can, chips are one of those things that just won't fill us up.
And most of all write your goals down this journey is so much easier with specific goals and timeframes. When you are pursuing a goal it's it's easy to say no to those garbage foods.
