I'm alive! Yesterday was hell, but so far today I actually feel semi human. I am not exaggerating when I say the first day is hell. But believe anyone who tells you that walking makes you feel a ton better! Anesthesia always causes me to get sick so I have had zofran every 6 hours or less. One of my incisions (I have 6!) hasn't stopped bleeding (at least as of about 2 hours ago), so if it doesn't stop I will have to stay another night. If it looks fine I will be able to go home today. I just finished my 4 "shots" of Water in an hour & threw up the gastrographen (sp??) before I started the Water. That stuff is horrible. Anesthesia is wearing off & I am feeling a lot better. :-) just my quick update!

Yay! Congratulations on overcoming what I would assume is the hardest part. Sorry about the nausea, that is actually one of the things I am the most scared about!

This is really good to hear. I hope your incision site stops bleeding,it is much easier to recover at home. I was told I would have 5 incision sites, but I got 6 which the doc proudly announced when I seen her. At that point, I didn't really care, I just wanted to be left alone and go back to sleep. I loved my morphine pump. LOL CONGRATS and welcome to the BIG LOSER'S BENCH! you are going to be so skinny really, really soon. :)

Thanks everyone! So far since starting the Water I've had no nausea! Yay! And I don't think my incision is leaking anymore. They are going to let me shower soon. I'm sure that will make me feel better too.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
