October 2006 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

O.K. J. It just goes to show that ever one is different. They had me on 1200 before I was even banded. Then the Dietician, and Shrink wanted about 700 calories a day. Possibley 900. But I'm listening to my Doc!!!

After all he is the one makeing the big bucks. So I will see if he still say's 1000 tommarow. Shirley...

Hey guys -

I am feeling pretty discouraged. I just had a fill less than 2 weeks ago and the scale hasn't moved in a week.

How are all of you losing? Steady?? How much a week???

Hang in there threebeauties, it won't last. You are doing great. We are all proud of your progress.

You guys really are awesome!! Thank you so much for the kind words and the encouragement. With you guys, I can't fail:clap2:

Honestly, I do believe keeping in touch with this website and specifically, this thread, will make a difference in my success!

Jimboss - I don't know, I guess I just need to focus again and stop thinking about Wiilie Mayes;)

Crispygal.... "I've been sick almost the entire month of January and think I have bronchitis because I can not stop coughing to save my life. I'm off to the doctors tomorrow morning to get on some meds!"

I know what you mean.. I want to work out..but I have not been able to.. I have had bronchitis.. sinus infection with pink eye.. so this month has not been my month.. I know when I go to the Dr for a fill I am going to be disappointment.. I don't think I have lost anything since my last dr appointment.. (which he did not do a fill since I was losing weight like I should.. )

Threebeauties,

Listen girl, it's tough not to get discouraged sometimes. Lord knows I do. But go back and re-read some of your posts! Including the ones you've directed to me! You'll make it darlin'. Just heed your own advice, and that given by all of us that really do care (and we do!). Great Balls of Fire girl! Get up in the morning with a renewed attitude and believe that nothing is going to stop you from meeting your goals. And remember, Shirley is right. 1 to 1 1/2 pounds a week is normal, but don't get discouraged if you don't see it every week. Just stay focused young lady! Old Jimboss is telling you to. We all love ya and are here for you.

~~Jimboss~~

Jimboss... you are such an inspiration... I look at this site at night.. get inspired and motivated.. and then pack my lunch...(within our limits being banded..) and then I go to work.. still motivated..and then some days I make it to the gym..but I have been ill.. so it is like starting over.. I went for 3 weeks straight..5 days a week.. I did cardio classes.. and then if I do not go to the gym.. my motivation is down..and by the time I get home from work..motivation is gone.. and then I start over..

I need something at work to motivate me..

Oh Christine we are two peas in a pod! Not only do we share the same name, but we also share the same illness! Yuck! It's confirmed that I have bronchitis, but I have still been getting worse. Today is my second day on antibiotics so hopefully I'll start feeling better soon. I'm so afraid that I am going to slip my band or flip my port with all this coughing. lol.

Don't be down on yourself if you go in for your next fill and haven't lost anything. I'm sure you've been working hard and maybe you do need more of a fill. I know I have 1.5cc's and I could use more of a fill myself. When do you go in for your next fill? My doctor won't give me another fill until my appointment in early April.

I go see my dr on Friday.... I see him every 4-6 weeks.. the last time I got a fill was November 9th... so it has been some time.. I went thru the holidays..and my birthday celebrations...

I was on antibiotics for 10 days.. and then decongestioniant.. and eye drops because I also got pink eye.

Chrispy and bckeye1 I hope you guys feel better! Winter sucks.

Hi Angie! Most of us were banded in oct 05, but you are most welcome to join us. The more the merrier.

I have a new bad habit to disclose: I have been eating cookie dough every night for three days!! Not a lot, but it's not a good thing. Ugh...

You girls get better o.k. Get those antibiotics from the Doc, and something for that terrable cough. I'm still on antibiotics for mine.

Got sick the day after Christmas. I hope it is finally going away.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
