October 2006 Bandsters!

Recommended Posts

Such an honor! I'm officially one of the October Girls! So cool! Old Jimboss loves you all!

On a note not concerning "lap band" issues.... I got to play Santa Clause last night at my daughters day care. My daughter runs a day care and asked me to be Santa for their Christmas party. I donned my Santa suit and I think I had as much fun as the kids! I was even able to talk a couple of Mom's to sit on Santa's lap! Whew.

Of course my daughter had a lot of delicious food items there but Old Santa was able to stay away from everything. After getting "tightened" a couple of days ago, I had no desire at all. Cool huh?

Hey, Merry Christmas to you all and may God Bless..........Hugs, Jimboss

Way to go Jimboss!! It is hard to resist those treats. Good for you!!!

Kimberly - I am so shocked they completely filled your band on the first fill. No wonder you PB'd!!! Just watch yourself and make sure you're able to get food down ok.

So I am 1/2 lb away from our Christmas Challenge goal. Yeah!!!! I'm hoping I'll lose it between now and tomorrow morning so I hit it by this week's weigh in. lol. If not, I still have another week!

Well gang, I had my 2nd fill on Thursday and boy oh boy do I feel the restriction. It is really noticable in the morning. The doctor filled it 1cc. My first fill was 1.50 cc. This is great! I have actually been to two parties and still lost. I have also met my Christmas weight loss challenge. The best part is the holidays have not really been a problem so far. I think the motivation is so strong right now that I will not allow the holiday goodies to get the best of me as in the past. To all of you, have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Ugh! I gained 2 pounds this week!! I'm going in for my second fill on Wednesday so I hope it helps. I'm going to try my best to stay away from the holiday treats!

Congrats Shellybeans, that is great!!

Drewslou, don't get down on yourself. This is the holidays after all.

On a side note I'm surprised that people are already getting second fills. My doctor said he wouldn't even consider giving me another fill for 4 months. It's so funny how differently the docs treat us all. It would be so much easier if they all said/did the same thing! lol.

Anyway, I'm at 240 and 1/2 pound away from the challenge goal. I have a few parties this week so I am going to try and be on my best behavior so I can make the goal!

One Week Post Op Went For Follow Up Visit With Surgeon And Happy To Report Had Lost 10 Lbs. Here It Is December 18 And I Am Going For My 6 Week Check Up, I Think For My First Fill. Only Lost About 8 Lbs Since November 10. Is That Normal, I Did Feel As If I Was Cheating A Little Bit. I Found That I Can Almost Eat Anything And I Am Always Hungry. Any Info Would Be Appreciated

Hi Turkiye and welcome, this is a great place to get support and talk to other people that know's what your going through. I did about the same as you and at first I was discouraged but my Dr. was really pleased with my progress. I am telling myself that hey at least I am losing and not gaining, which is what I normally do this time of year.

I am 2# away from the 10# christmas challenge goal and I am really happy, I know that I can make it by christmas.

Jessica...stay the course darlin'. I had gained 3 pounds the week prior to my second fill. I came to my favorite girls here in my favorite thread and got the encouragement I needed to "hold fast" and see my Dr. I had my second fill and like Shellybeans (good job Shelly!) I not only am rejuvinated but I've lost that 3 pounds and am feeling confident going into the big day full of all those yummy treats.

Old Jimboss is sending all my LBT Angels a big Christmas Hug! With each others support we are all going to win this fight!

Its a miracle! I managed to stay the same this week. No loss, but no gain either! Since my fill/unfill last week, I have been hungry more than I was before the fill. We had Christmas with my folks yesterday and I ate a lot... plus I had treats at the office all week and managed to eat 3/4 of a McDonald's cheeseburger last week. See why I'm so excited to have stayed the same?? LOL

Hi Y'all

I called my dr. this a.m. for an "emergency fill" LOL

I don't know whats going on but I have gone a little crazy this past week. I ordered Chinese food and ate like I used to. No problems getting it down (except rice) and no problem eating like I did pre-band. Needless to say, I am up 2-3 lbs.

Tomorrow night is our support group meeting at his office so I was able to get in right before the meeting, Thank goodness, my dr. is great!!!

Good to hear so many people are doing well, the numbers are really encouraging.

Its funny how we get frustrated but I just noticed that tomorrow is my 2 month "bandaversary" and I am down 31 lbs. I am quite sure I've never done that before the band!!

Hang in there eveyone, take care

I've noticed many of us have had "issues" between the first and second fills! I wonder if that is a common occurance? But whatever.....let's all keep up the good work! Thank goodness I have the October Bandsters!

I would guess that for a lot of us the initial fill simply isn't enough. My dr. said he ALWAYS starts at 1cc and creeps up from there. I notice that a lot of people I read about get way more than that for the first fill.

I know by past experiences with dieting, this is right around the time (6-8 weeks) I lose my resolve and slip back to bad habits. That is why I wanted a fill asap before I lose total control and get way off course, LOL.

JimBoss - I am sure you are such a nice man. Glad to have you on this thread! I truly believe you are right about sticking together to win the fight. Personally, I believe that if I stop visiting the sites and quit being involved with a support group, that is the time I will fall back. I LOVE to see people who have been banded for a long time on the threads, I bet that is why they are so successful!.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
