Have any one every cheated 4 days before their surgery date?

Lots of people have cheated. Just buck up. Get back on the wagon and pretend nothing happened!

Usually the reason your surgeon puts you on a liquid diet before surgery is to help reduce the size of your liver, which in turn helps make the surgery go easier.

If you did cheat... as long as you didn't eat a bucket of chicken covered in butter you should be OK LOL.

SHHHHHHHH No one saw anything!

I didn't have a pre op diet. I ate everything in sight until 8 hours before my surgery!

Stuff happens, just don't cheat anymore. Time to shrink that liver so it doesn't get nicked during the surgery. :)

I cheated two days before and I was on liquid for a month. It was like a wake up call for me. It was impulsive. It wasn't even good. I cried for about an hour and a half. I had to wait 13 hours before I could get an answer if I was allowed surgery or not. I got 4 hours of sleep that night...looking back, I realized that cheating wasn't worth the misery. My nurse didnt even care that I had a sandwhich, but I am more motivated to be successful at this surgery. I hope that you don't worry like I did and I'm sure you'll be fine, but food is just not worth making my life miserable anymore. Sorry, I ranted lol.

I'm on day 5 of liquid diet but the nurse said I could nibble on carrots so I have steamed some here & there but I have ate no other food but I'm sure everyone does cheat a little b/c liquid for 2 weeks pre-op is hard when your use to eating when & what you want... My surgery is next Wed & it's been hard but so far I think I can make it to next week...

You were allowed carrots?!

First week of mien was milk milk and more milk 4pints a day I rang them and asked if I could eat a couple of sticks of cucumber I got told NO!

I badly wanted something crunchy I was craving apples true fully but wasn’t allowed it lol

I cheated in my first week but I was also really sick on the milk diet in the end so bad infact I was taken off the milk diet and switched to a food diet which was fine my second week I was good and never strayed from my diet.

Yeah I am on normal food, well what I can eat lol

It was a little hard had to back track and go back a few stages and work my way forward again to solid food as I was being sick a lot and I don’t try to eat 4oz at a time because I can’t so I do 1oz at a time which was part of the reason I was being sick its just too much food for me to eat and was taking too long so to eat so I was scaled back.

They are fine with that my blood work is fine for Vitamins and such Protein is still a little low my weight hasn’t stalled nor am I drastically loosing weight so they are ok with how much I eat a day.

I think the pre op diet is harder simply because you know you can still eat everything your not meant to with no issues after you don’t try or hardly in some cases because the simple things like eggs or red meat is such a ordeal (for me anyway) its not even worth trying to cheat!

Oh wow, well I think the worse thing I fear is getting to that point when I can eat normal food again & since some complain of it hurting that's what I'm worried about... My fav food is shrimp which I was told was good b/c that's something that goes down easy... Worried about getting my Protein right after surgery though - don't want any of my hair falling out

The first thing I think most of us can eat is seafood fish was my first ok I can eat that and it doesn’t hurt/make me sick food.< /p>

Prawns are a little denser so you might have the heavy fuller feeling with them than fish I did but it’s not painful.

Honestly DO NOT rush trying to eat take it from me as someone who had to back track just go slow and don’t rush the stages.

I didn’t rush, I did exactly as I was told and still needed more time to adjust to my new stomach so skipping or rushing ahead isn’t worth it.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
