I'm so sorry to hear about your husband, I know that you posted the other day that you guys were having troubles and it really seems like he's solidified himself as a jerk. But you are eventually gonna move on and when you do you're gonna be healthier and happier. At least you are learning his true colors now while your'e young, rather than even more years down the road.

From what I've read it does sound like stress can be related to weight gain, just hormone wise: http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art.asp?articlekey=53304

Your body is probably also in freaking out starvation mode. Not eating makes your body wanna retain everything. Even though you don't wanna you really need to make sure you're keeping up on your intake.

I have had such a crazy hormone ride since this surgery. I had my period twice the first month and spotting at least a day both of weeks I didn't have my period. So what you're having is normal, and should stop eventually. I'm sure it's not helping much with the mood either. Do you have close family members/friends that can help support you in his absence?

((((HUGS)))))

The one thing I have read on here is you must try to get to your calorie goal. That could hold you back or stall you. You know what and I have always said this, "You can change being fat, ugly you can't change." Did your husband have issues with you having the surgery that you know of?

Yep, fat you can change, but ugly character and morals will follow you forever! Hang in there -- I've been through it too.

Men do cheat. It has happened to me. Just keep moving forward. I'm sorry that it happened to you but it will make you stronger. You must get your calories in because if you dont your body will hold on to the weight .

My nut said that if you are not eating enough calories you will not lose weight because your body will hold on to the fat.

Good Luck. Keep your head up. And Stay focus on what you need to do in order to accomplish your weight goals.

It will get better I promise! :) I put on a TON of weight because of your exact situation and I let it get the better of me. You now have this amazing tool to use and not gain weight but lose it. Although you really need to take care of yourself and get in the nutritional stuff your body needs. I have lost more weight by eating more (good stuff) but needed to add carbs and fat in order for my body to let go. I was in total starvation mode and stalled for 6 days. As soon as I added more "stuff" in my foods, I've been dropping 1lb/day again.

Therapy is a great idea at this time, a third person that can look at the situation from the outside is the BEST advice I can give. After going through a similar situation, I can guarantee you, you will come out stronger, better, more self esteem and look back and realize he was no good and no good for you :) Work on yourself, do not give him another minute of your tears, thoughts, etc. If he were worth it, he would have never done what he did. Actions speak louder than words :) You are worth it!!!!! Stay strong.

This is a time in your life where you're going thru big changes. Some good and some bad. He cheated...he doesn't deserve you or your tears. I had a cheating and abusive husband but he wouldn't leave. So one day I got fed up and fought back and that gave him the shock of his life. Not saying for you to get physical but fight back by drying your tears and knowing that you made a great decision to change your life and don't let him steal your joy. Forgive him so you can move on and prepare yourself to be happy for you and then when you're ready...the one who was meant for you. Now on the other hand...until you get your appetite back make sure you take in at least 2-3 Protein Shakes per day.

I can't imagine what you're going through right now! Being recently sleeved is difficult enough without another curve ball being thrown into the mix. So, now I'm going into mother mode. First, I'm sending you a great big hug!!! Your husband has to work his own demons out. But, as for you, "It's time to do you!!!". Follow the program your surgeon and NUT gave you. Go for walks, engage in whatever hobbies/activities brought you comfort. No, food is not in the equation. Just know you are special, beautiful, and a jewel and a precious one at that. Start loving and pampering you!!! People can only do what we allow them to do to us. You've got a whole support system here. It's rough, I know. You will get through it! So, we'll be expecting some pictures in the coming weeks/months on the emerging hottie that is within! Ok? Keep you're head up! One last hug:)

I'm so sorry that your going through this! Please, if your insurance covers it or if you can afford it, see a therapist to help you work through your depression and issues. They can really help you to work things out. There is NO stigma with needing extra help at a time like this! You don't have to try to do this alone. The right therapist will give you tools to work through your depression just like the surgeon gave you the sleeve as a tool to lose weight. Please consider it, you're in a very fragile state physiclly and emotionally right now.

I think you should go to the local pound and adopt a cat! This will sound weird because I don't advocate just buying pets if you're going to dump them later, but in your situation you need someone to live for! Someone you can trust! If you know you have to get up to change litter boxes, buy food, top up Water, and need someone to hug every night in bed a cat is your best friend.

This man you may love. But is that because you don't love yourself? When you have someone else to focus on you can push your own problems aside... Now he's not there you don't know what to do!

But let me tell you now- EAT! You must eat or you will die. You must look after yourself! You absolutely must! You want to be in a coffin with him and his fugly f-buddy smiling down? NO!!! You're too good for that!

Pull your finger out and eat some food! I know, I've been there and you need someone to make you accountable! Purée will NOT make you fat and if you continue down this terrible self-destructive path you will waste away!

You may work things out with him later, or not, but you can't do either if you're 6-ft under ground!

As a sleever, and a woman that caught her husband (since divorced) in bed with another woman, I totally feel your pain. It is emotionally devastating for that to happen at any time, much less post op. What I want you to know is this, when i finally picked myself up and dusted off my rear end and living life for me, my life started falling back into place. I still loved my ex too, but finally realized I deserved better. You deserve better too, cheating is a pansy's way out. Also, you must eat to keep your stregnth and maintain losing. HUGS!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
