Looking For A Buddy In Nj

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I had surgery in NYC on Aug 14th. I'm doing really well and would love to share any advice or support I can give. I went to Dr. Pomp. He is incredible and has taught countless doctors how to do this procedure.

I'm also from Jersey-bergen county :)

Congratulations Jessie on your surgery! How are you feeling? What insurance did you have? I have Horizon BCBS and I'm currently waiting for my write ups from the pysch assessment and trying to figure out what to put in this letter to the insurance company explaining my attempts to lose weight in the last 12 months. Once that is done off to the insurance company for approval. This waiting game is driving me nuts..I just want to get it over and done with :)

Just caught your post now...but I would love to connect too. I hope everything goes good with your insurance too! When did you do the seminar with the doctors?

I attended the seminar on 8/15 , consult with Dr. Ewing on 8/27 , pre op seminar on 8/29(?) Psych on 9/1, and NUT on 9/4 . What insurance do you have? How are things going for you leading up to surgery?

I have United Healthcare and I'm just waiting for the date. I was approved on August 29th, and my scheduled date is 11/15 because I had to wait to have a big enough break to get it done. I'm anxiously waiting for the date to come.

Hello! I'm feeling really good. I have United Health Care and my insurance plan did not cover my surgery at all so consider yourself LUCKY even if all the evaluations seem to take a lot of time! :) I would do it again though-even as expensive as it was. In terms of what to say to insurance-as detailed and heartfelt as possible is what works best from what I am told.

Best of luck!!!

Hi Ladies,

I am also from NJ but getting sleeved in Mexico on 11/7 , would definitely keep y'all posted and would love to be a buddy :)

@ Ashley, I was hoping to have the surgery with Dr.Trivedi from the same practice as Dr.Ewing but too expensive for a self pay so I am going on my mini surg-cation lol .

Hi Jessie44

I'm going in for a revision on Oct 18th and I'm scared out of my mind. I have the band which slipped so my doctor is going to revise it with the sleeve. How are you doing so far? Is it anything like the band in terms of the pain and or discomfort? I lost a few pounds with the band but after it slipped gained some back so my doctor thinks ill be better off with the sleeve.

Hi Caruso,

The staff at the hospital was wonderful! I had no complaints. I normally have procedures/appts at Princeton Medical Center (now at Plainsboro)... Good Luck!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
