Probably A Random/weird Question...

But would any of you say that you've noticed improved memory? I have a horrible memory and everywhere you read it says that excess of carbs (why I'm in this shape anyway) can cause it... as well as aspartame... etc. Sounds like EVERYTHING bad for you can cause it... SO I'm wondering once everything bad is out of your system for a while have you noticed a better memory?

I am two weeks out and I have not noticed it worse or better. I lived off of carbs and Diet Coke before surgery. Good luck to you.

I've never been a user of aspartame (it gives me horrible migraines), but I'm definitely not eating as many carbs as before surgery. I've read information about carbs, chemicals, etc causing issues with memory, but I've also read that ghrelin (the hormone produce by your stomach, and which causes us to experience "hunger") has a positive impact on memory...and that some people find they have diminished memory, post-VSG. I'm hoping it'll be a wash for me, and that my memory won't change much, one way or the other. :)

Maybe not! You're head may be clearer just not having the "food worries" clouding your thoughts once you're surgery is complete. That may help you with your memory issues.

I'm almost 3 weeks post-op and I haven't noticed anything different too, and my memory has to keep up with a lot of data/pricing information for packages, etc. due to the nature of my profession. I am a Web Designer and I'm in graduate school for an MBA on a full-time basis, as well... What I do notice though, is that I'm lacking energy big time! Feel drained and sleepy.

Before being sleeved, I was a coffee addict (2-3 cups/day) but I ate pretty clean -- just MUCH bigger portions!

Nannous, three weeks is still pretty fresh out, that could be why your feeling sluggish still. Are you getting your Protein in? Taking your Vitamins? Getting enough rest? If all those things are in check then I only have two other ideas. Exercise can sometimes give more energy. If that doesn't work I would inform your doctor and see if he/she feels it is normal. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
