Really Starting To Detest Water!

Recommended Posts

I was never a big beverage drinker but especially not Water. I would sip tea with meals but RARELY finished an entire glass or can of ANY beverage. This has been an extreme struggle since surgery.

Especially since I have never liked water, it actually makes me nauseous when I drink it but I have been forcing it down since surgery. I drink on average a total of approx 60oz to 70oz of liquids (mios, crystal light) with 34oz to 50oz being plain water. But the plain water is really starting to make me sick to my stomach. Adding lemon or any other flavor does not help. I've tried it all. I have even started to notice the mios and crystal sometimes make me feel bloated and cramp my stomach. My dilemna is I notice the days where my liquid intake is mostly all water, I tend to lose more. I DREAD even seeing a water bottle or anything that remotely resembles plain water.

Not sure what to do...any suggestions?

I switch it up with lipton diet green tea, citrus or watermelon. I think switching it up makes it a little easier to get fluids in. Maybe you could try some of that?

there's all sorts of tea flavors out there, too.. go to a health food store & look at all the teas.. you can smell the boxes to see if it's something appetizing to you.

you could also drink Soup broth or liquid Soup, like tomato...

or get a v8 or try juicing.. carrot + granny smith apple & some Water.. that's one of my favorites. :)

might also try getting filters for your Water, if you don't already have them for your water.. or try locating a local well & get well water.. it tastes different than tap water or bottled water from the store.. or if you have one of those places near you that sells alkalized water, you could start drinking that. it helps alkalize your body & you can get it by the gallon.. it's only like 10 bucks a month for unlimited water.

regular tap water from the city has fluoride in it, which may be good for your teeth, but it's bad for your brain. hitler used it to make people more docile and to more easily accept what he was saying... i try to stay away from fluorinated products. there's also other chemicals in your water, which may be partially why you don't like how your water tastes & why you're reacting to it the way you are... so.. if you can afford to, i'd look into getting a *REALLY* good filtration system on your faucet. :)

Thanks for the suggestions.

I do not EVER drink tap Water...it is just plain DISGUSTING to me. Tastes like what I would imagine lake Water to taste like LOL! Anyway, I only drink bottled water. The water filtration system, diet green tea and juicing all sound good. I just wish there was a way I could get plain water down without getting so sick to my stomach. It seems so much better for my weight loss....

Prior to sugery I could go WEEKS without drinking water.... oh well...heavy sigh....

I have been researching "fruit infused water". Google it and maybe you will see some combinations that will entice you. I am going to try a cucumber basil one real soon. Or what about ice? You don't get as much but it might be a change.. Pre sleeved so I can't relate yet but I wish you the best!!

I was always a Water drinker prior to surgery. After surgery, for some reason I could not tolerate the taste of bottled waters....and I tried many. One night, I drank outta a jug of water that was sittin on the table...it was a jug of Distilled water (we use for the clothes steamer). This water did not make me gag! I started drinking this for weeks until my daughter told me about a water someone had her try....SmartWater. I loved it....my belly loved it. Wholefoods makes a generic equivalent, Electrolyte Enhanced Water. Try it. You can also try those Protein Waters that come in a dozen or more flavors...Walmart has a huge selection. Good Luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
