Hi I had surgery with Dr. Kim in May. He is on my opinion one of the best. so far i have not had any complications outside of Dehydration two weeks after surgery and that was my fault. If need any info or help let me know. I am more than happy to help.

So great to hear from you! You are the only person on here I have seen with the same surgeon! Glad you have not had any structural complications. I am very interested in hearing you story, if you don't mind. Like, starting weight, current weight, how you felt after surgery and how you feel now, etc... Also any pre op/post op advice, any info on hospital stay, what the food (or liquid plan) is with Dr Kim? I guess I get all the details during my pre op visit? I am waiting on one LAST clearance, pulmonary dr. Then I get to schedule a date. Looking at mid to late Sept. Now that your on the other side of surgery and a few months out, is life as good as you thought/hoped it would be?

I am also working with dr. Kim! So anxious to get a date for surgery! I have one more appointment with the nutrionist and then everything gets submitted to insurance for approval..... Now the waiting game!!!! It seems like waiting to hear back for scheduling is the hardest part!

Yay! So glad to see another Dr Kim patient! I feel I need to share with you, as I wish someone would have told me. Once insurance approved the surgery I met with Dr Kim. I had been under the impression that since I was approved, I could schedule. So I was looking forward to the appt and have a date. Well, the Dr has clearances he needs too. They required me to go back to my PCP for EKG and chest xray and bloodwork. In my case I also needed pulmonary clearance bcuz I have mild asthma and sleep apnea. All is done except pulmonary, and that is on Mon. I passed all the tests so I am pretty sure she will clear me. Dr Kims office was able to hold a date for me, bcuz of my work schedule, but won't be officially scheduled until final clearance. Hopefully in your case you will just need chest xray, ekg and Bloodwork. Those I had done in 2 days. Once your insurance is approved and you make the appt to see go to Dr Kims office, I would advise calling your PCP and making an appt right after Dr Kim appt. When they ask you what the appt is for just say clearance for surgery. That way you can get it all done quickly. Once you do THEIR clearances then you can schedule. I am sorry to tell you all this but I wish I had known all this and had been prepared. I was very sad I didn't leave with a date. Also, so you can start to get an idea of dates, Dr Kim only does sleeve surgeries on Fri. Hopefully this info is helpful!! And you will have a date in no time! It all happens so quickly!!

I've already met with dr Kim and have done all my clearances.... Bloodwork, EKG, psych evaluation, and lastly pulmonary last week. My ins required a three mo monitored diet before surgery, and I meet with Ann, the nutritionist one last time next week and my patient advocate has to send all the paperwork to insurance for the OK!.... So that's where my waiting comes in, everything thru my PCP and dr Kim was approved! ..... I went for pulmonary clearance at celebration health, the office they recommend! Great place! Loved everyone there! I'm nervous because some people say that sometime the office takes awhile to get back to you to schedule even after the letter comes in the mail from the insurance co..... Biting my nails ..... Luckily I have an 18mo old at home to keep me busy while I wait! Hoping for sometime in October. Would love to be recovered before the holidays get into full swing.

I am also using Dr. Kim. My patient advocate was on top of it all since the very first meeting at the seminar. I did, however, have most of my clearances before I even walked in for that first appointment. My Advocate received the approval letter today @ 11:30 and was on the phone with me by 11:45. Really excited! All the doctors I had to go to before getting the authorization all said the same thing to me after I told them it was Dr. Kim doing the surgery - "He's the absolute best!".

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
