The Top 5 Things You Will Not Miss After Vsg

Recommended Posts

I will not miss laying in bed wishing I didn't have to get up and find clothes for the day.

I will not miss sweating like a pig. All the time!

I will not miss assuming people are disgusted by me (whether they actually are or not).

I will not miss running away from people with cameras, or ducking in the back.

I will not miss wondering why my husband even loves me anymore, because I despise myself.

-I will not miss being afraid of fitting in booths at restaurants, or lawn chairs at parties

-I will not miss wearing out the inner thighs of my pants.

-I will not miss being the fatty friend. Someone else can take over for me!

-I will not miss trying to hide myself with a pillow on people's couches. Like they don't see my fat behind that magic pillow!

-I will not miss turning down offers to go to 6 flags/amusement parks. When people hear I've been never been on a roller coaster they try and take me, but I'm too embarrassed to go because I know I won't fit

1. Lane Bryant - bye! Bye! Tired of paying ridiculous prices for the simplest garment! It costs a fortune to look nice for work each season and a lot if the clothing styles should not be made plus-size (horizontal stripes size 22/24 is not flatering no matter how well made or attractive the item is!)

2. Pulling into a parking space and then you realize you can't squeeze out the door, so you have to re-park or change spots- embarrassing!!

3. The "personal hygiene" issue- I use tons of cornstarch-based powder!

4. Seats, seatbelts, rides, cars, bikes, etc. - always the worry "Will I fit?" or "Will I break it?"-horrifying!!

5. Feeling like the most undesirable woman in the world! My husband is so supportive and truly loves me but I don't love myself enough to be free to love him. The weight has affected my self-image (zero labido-TMI, sorry!)

I will not miss not having any pics of myself with my kids because I don't like to take them myself and my fiancé is tired of me telling him to delete them, so he doesn't take them anymore.

I will not miss it taking forever to get up off the floor when I play with the Chillins.

I will not miss sex with the lights off

I will not miss bein the only fat girl at work listening to all the skinny chicks talk about how fat they are.

I will not miss wondering how long it will be before I develop diabetes like so many in my family.

Definitely will not miss:

*Having to buy less cute knee boots bc the ones I want and love won't fit around my calves.

*Crying in the dressing rooms bc I love fashion and the adorable stuff will either not fit or looks disgusting on my body.

*Getting extremely out of breath when doing any physical activity and having to skip things I want to do bc I know I can't physically do it anymore.

*Not feeling sexy and carefree like I did back when I was thin. Those were some of the happiest times of my life.

*Not living my life to its fullest in general bc I am depressed about by health and self image.

*Wondering when I'll get diabetes and other comirbidities bc I don't have the dicipline reauired to lose the weight on my own.

There are so MANY things I used to do when I was thin that I took for granted and I have truly mourned the life I had then. I have missed some of the best years of my life bc of the weight I've gained and I fully intend to make up for it for as long as I have left! I could make a list that would go on forever. ;)

I know exactly how you feel. Since I gained so much wait I've become a reclusive. I have lost touch with friends, refuse to go to family events or birthdays. The shame of putting on so much weight and not being able to exercise it off has made me a prisoner. It's been 3 yrs and all my clothes are way too small and I refuse to but big clothes. My sister brought me some clothes yesterday and I cried looking at the size, knowing she guessed what my current size may be. It's depressing and I won't miss that sense if worthlessness.

Holly I totally agree with u! We have a store our here called penningtons and another one called aditionelle and both have expensive clothing. And the ones that look nice from far away are actually a sweatpant material. Yes I love wearing sweatpants and yoga pants because sometimes that's all that fits but that doesnt mean I wanna wear a sweatpant fabric black dress! And just because im plus size doesn't mean my body is shaped like a box!! I find so many if their clothes have no shape and don't flatter

1. Having to use the "disabled" toilet because I don't fit in a regular stall.

2. The $COST$ of soooooo much take-out!

3. Feeling like shark-bait in the ocean because I'm the biggest & slowest swimmer out there!

4. (on someone else's list but a good one) wanting to eat the leftovers on other peoples plates [like a dog!] because I'm still so hungry!

5. Not being able to wear my beautiful heels anymore because they hurt and I'm scared of breaking them!!!

I will not miss:

- constantly unrolling the waistband on my trousers (because my stomach pushes it down)

- putting on my nightie and wondering why it seems to be a few centimeters shorter each time

- looking at fabulous boots knowing that my calves just ain't gonna fit in

- feeling like I need to finish EVERYTHING on my plate (I think my mother is responsible for THAT)

I sooooo hope my back pain goes away after this surgery. My back hurts so much that I don't even enjoy sleeping. And I love to sleep. Wake up every morning with pain, physical therapy doesn't even do anything .

How about putting on shirt after shirt trying to find one long enough to cover my stomach?!

Don't forget the pants with packets and the lighter color material inside the pocket shows because of how the pants are stretching. this is just a bad move on the clothing manufacturer. Come on folks! You are making plus size clothing! They are going to stretch! Lol

Or pulling the seatbelt ALL the way out it'll fit? I hate riding in my husband's truck bc it locks up on me. LOL

--I don't miss needing my husband to put on my socks and shoes or just wearing flip flops regardless of the time of year.

--I don't miss having to lean heavily on the banister going down stairs.

--I don't miss being borderline diabetic.

--I don't miss not being able to weed the gardens.

--I don't miss having to sit in a "special" chair when lounging around the pool.

These are the EXACT same things that plague me on a daily basis. I cant wait until after surgery...

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
