Summer Surgery Cheaper?

Recommended Posts

I noticed that a lot of surgeons have summer specials. Is getting the surgery usually cheaper in the summertime? I'm having to save up for the surgery and may not be able to get it until next March or so, but I may hold off until next summer if that's when the deals are! :)

In Mexico they were running July and August sales. It was $1000.00 savings for me:)

I dont know, maybe its me, I would question any surgoen who is running a "sale" or "special" check with past patients and his success rate...

My health is priceless

Check out TJ Mexico. I was sleeved in April for 4,500 and let me tell you it was the best decision i have ever made. I love having the sleeve.

I think they have summer specials because it slows down in summer. As a clinician, summer time is really slow for me. People are busy with travel plans/vacations, kids being out of school and TJ is HOT in summer (I'm assuming!).

The doctors in Dallas, TX, will run specials too. It isn't unusual for cash paying customers.

Also, when I needed testing before I had insurance, I would ask the doctor or hospital for a discount since I was paying cash in advance. It works.

TJ is not hot the average temp is 70's. I am here now and it is wonderful. Sure beats the 100+ we are having at home! My sleeve cost me a total of 4700.00 and it is worth every penny!

Hi, I looked at your profile and we are the same hieight, but I'm 25# heavier. May I ask who your surgeon was? I don't see it on your profile.

Hi Carolyn, 70 sure sounds better than 105 here. May I ask who your surgeon is? I am still researching and trying to choose.

I used Dr Lopez. He and his wife work as a team. All of the people on his team are great. There is not much out about him but that is because he is fairly new I think. My husband was very impressed by them and Mi hospital. My cost was 4700.00. The hotel is very nice very comparable to any nice room in the states. The price included food for me. Ron as to buy his own. Doesn't cost much. Room in hospital was for both same in hotel. Airfare was 350. I booked about a month ahead. Let me know if I can help.

I haven't been quoted anything lower than $4,500 to be honest. Please do extensive research on all the doctors that you're considering. Don't go to the one with the best deal. At first that's what I was going to do but realize after reading several posts that I do not want to take the cheap route. Lol I mean, there are other good doctors that are reasonable too. :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
