Insurance Says They Received Nothing From Surgeon

I am so frustrated. I called my surgeon Monday and they said they submitted everything to Horizon BC/BS for approval. I called Horizon today and they said they didnt get the paperwork from the surgeon! My surgery is just a week away and now I dont know if i will get approval in time. I called thw surgeons office back and they assured me that it was submitted. Has anyone faced this?

You might double check who/where they sent it to make sure they submitted the right info to the right company. Lots of patients and insurance companies they're dealing with, and I'm learning the ARE NOT PERFECT!

Take my advice! Call call call! Stay on top of it! I thought my stuff was submitted Monday and come to find out it wasn't because my surgeon quit the practice and they never called me to tell me! I ended up calling insurance and they had nothing submitted so I got the news when I called the surgeon's office...so now I'm switching my entire bariatric program and surgeon because I feel they should have called me and said something!

How was it submitted? Some fax but others mail the packet (which is crazy to me). I echo the call, call, call. Even once it is submitted, if they need additional info it will take 5-7 business days for the letter they send requesting that info to get to you and the surgeon....but they'll tell you if you call.
