For All Low Bmi's -- How Much Weight Did You Loose In 90 Days?

Recommended Posts

I know everybody is different. I know it depends on your health. I know it depends if you cheat. I know it depends on if you work out and gain muscle. I know low-BMI's usually loose slower. I know....I'm just curious on the range of loss or even pant size loss.

If you're anything like me you were probably squeezing into the 12s before. Right now I'm in a tight 16 (if i have to be honest). Sounds like you're doing great! Good luck with the medications.

I am freaking out because my BMI is 35 and I read some post about slow losers and how depressed they are. Their post stressed me out because I have a low BMI and am afraid that it will be the same for me. My surgery date is 7/23; I am still excited but a little stressed at the same time. To clarify depression is not what I am worried about; it's the thought of only losing a pound a week after taking drastic measures to turn this unhealthy weight around.

Is it sad that this is my only real concern...all this time and money and one more failed attempt to loose weight. But I also know it's not going to change on its own. I have spent more than this over the last 17 years trying to loose weight. It's just a lump sump and I'm getting a tool to use.

I was a low BMI. I have lost 19.5 pounds since surgery 26 days ago. I was a super tight 12 (probably would have been a tight 14 if I would have bought any). Some 12's fit, some are big and I wore a size 10 pants tonight.

The best thing is that my face lost most of the weight already, so when I look in the mirror, I see the person I expect rather than the round faced one that has been staring back for the last few years.

To my fellow low BMI'ers....you will lose weight! I started out at a bmi of 31.1 and now I am 19.5! Hips went from 50 to 38 inches. I averaged 10lbs a month the first few months and then slowed down from there. This will work! Just follow your doctor's guidelines and let it play out! You will not regret it. And so what if it comes off slow? Better than gaining!

Went from a 18/20 pant to a size 8

Tops XL to Medium

Happiness meter went from a 3 to 10 plus!!!

That's encouraging sounds like we are close to the same BMI. I am not expecting too much but I hope I am making the right decision.

7 weeks out. I've lost 22lbs. Had a 2 week stall. Prior to the stall I lost 18lbs. It's been slow going. I am down a pant size from an 18 and 16 .... A loose 16 :) I tend to get a little frustrated but I just remind myself it's going in the right direction regardless of how slow.... I started at a 38bmi, I'm 5'2". Sw: 208 CW: 186

I'm 1 day shy of 2 weeks post op. My weight at surgery was 224 with a bmi of 34, this morning

I was 202 and a bmi of 29. I will confess I have cheated but seriously. iI it still cheating when you can eat only so much. I tried a 6" sandwich from subway I ate 1/4 of it over 6 hours. I had a "Super Pretzel" and medium Lemonaid at the movies and only ate 1/4 of it It took all 2 hours for me to drink the lemonaid.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
