I Measured My Body Today :(

Recommended Posts

Good GOD that was AWFUL!

OK so i remember I HATED wearing my shorts/pants below my actual waist, which is just below the belly button. Well of course after getting into anything over a 36/38 I HAD to wear it under my waist, which meant UNDER my belly(yuck). Well I guess I had just forgotten that my pant size really isn't my true pant size because I'm not wearing it on my waist!

So as I said I measured, well where I have been wearing my pants I am a 44, well where my waist really is, I'm a FREAKING 53! GROSS! I was totally disgusted! I am an EFFIN WHALE! It makes me really sad to know I am this big because I didn't know I was that big!

Anyway, I just wanted to complain!

Thank God this surgery is in 17 days!

Have no fear friend ...I just finished reading a thread from Mr_Worm ( a gentelman from the post~op form ) who just reported that he went from a 46 inch waist to a 34 in 6 months ! I have no doubt you will do just as well ! Congrats on getting sleeved soon :)

Didn't know that I was so big

its true when we look at a picture or get measurements, we just don't realize that we are "alittle" overweight. It shocked me when i saw a picture of myself and actually was brave enough to look at myself in a full length long mirror immediately after my shower...oh well

it doesn't matter what a person weighs, if its too much on their body - you feel and look atrocious (msp)

Glad you will have this surgery real soon.

You will start feeling better about yourself cuz you are doing something for yourself. It doesn't matter how long it takes - what matters it that you doing it now. Sooner than later is what "they" say

you'll love being done with the WLS and starting your new, healthy life. All will be better - it will take a while - but we all get there. - so will you.

Remember, the sleeve is only a tool, a good tool - but still a tool. You need to work with it, and things will be great

best wishes

good luck

kathy

Good luck on your pending surgery

You'll be so glad you measured when you start to lose weight. This is the only true way to know how great you've done. I used to HATE to see myself in pictures but I've been pulling up pictures and taking new ones just so I can see in a few months how great I've done. You'll be there soon!

Giselle has a great point, pre-op measuring can be a good motivator...I'm going to measure myself now so that if I get in a stall later, or feel like I'm not making progress I can re measure myself and cheer myself up with how far I've come.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
