Part of it is that it's just your stomach making noise.....I was so swollen that I didn't really feel hunger but all I could think about was FOOD!!! It all looked SO GOOD!!!

Hang in there!!!! You can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GOd Bless,

Melody

Try popping a sugar free mint or hard candy (like Werther's or Jolly Rancher) helps with the head hunger. Also, try drinking flavored waters like Propel or Fruit20. I have found I can actually get my quota in during the day. I was never a Soup fan before the band but now have started trying new types like chicken Gumbo and Mexican Fiesta. The taste sure beats pure broth.

Good luck!

my stomach keeps begging me to feed it.
What you think may be hunger could also be the rumbling of the gasses left in your from surgery. More Protein Drinks will help and like Funnyduddies said, the thicker Soups help. One thing that also helped me was Jello, it was like eating food for me since I got to use a spoon and not just a straw or a glass..my head thought it was food.

Creamed Soups did not count for my clear liquids, but go get some popsicles and Jello those are clear liquids, they count and it will feel like you are actually eating food:biggrin1:

that was totally my experience, too. i felt *awful* and i knew that i couldn't get anything in, and the first time i experienced that i couldn't believe that i was hungry! but i just listened to my body a bit and soon found out it was gas.

made me really understand why gassy babies are always so frantic to nurse.

My surgery date was 8/28 and Booda I know what you mean by starving. Go to GNC and get some Isopure Liquid Protein 40 gr. banana/pineapple is the best. It will help your pangs of hunger. My doc had me on clear liquids which did not include cream Soups only broth (which I hate now). Sunday I get to go on full liquid, ( carnation instant Breakfast, slim-fast, ice cream, cream soups, pudding, etc) I can barely wait for tomorrow. I have been having the squirts and affraid to leave my house, but I have lost 12lbs in 9 days, whoo-hoo!!!

I agree with the popsicles. They saved me bigtime. I ate them so slow that they'd melt off the stick so I also ate the italian ices. The cherry ones are good, but they have different flavors. Also, I'd strain my favorites Soup of it's solids and enjoy the liquid. I did that with chicken noodle soup but you can do it with anything. I also drank lots of Crystal Light.

Good luck! :clap2:

I was starving also, and my nut told me to MAKE SURE that I was having some liquids with calories. She said to drink a very very small glass of sweetened ice tea or Kool-Aid several times a day. It really helped! I think our bodies beg us for calories! She also said to add a little Water to SlimFast and freeze it, and then eat it like ice cream. They wouldn't allow me to have plain SlimFast on the clear liquid phase, but I could do the frozen version. That really packed a punch for me! I guess because it has so much nutritional value!

im with you on this, I am 3 days post - op and I think I am starving, but then the thought of food makes me sick. I think its because I am in a lot of pain. I am on full liquids nothing thicker then paint. but I have been just drinking protien shakes, apple jucie and melted ice cream. If feels like I am eating a full meal. Hang in there it will get better.

BLEND BLEND BLEND, use the blender for anythng you want!! Just thin it with the broth that you now hate to look at!! Your imagination is the only limitation per the dietitican. As long as you thin it with broth you can blend up everything!! cook for the family and blend yours was the answer I got. I will be able to tell you how it works in just a few days:clap2: :clap2: !!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
