I'm sure this has been talked about a lot on here in various threads, however it's kinda hard to navigate through everything. I'm probably going to be having surgery in August and I've read about so many people having major Hair loss. This TERRIFIES me. I have hypothyroidism and I already deal with hair loss as it is...im getting married in January and KINDA don't want to be bald for that! Would you all mind sharing your experiences with this? Thanks in advance :)

I also have hypothyroidism. I had surgery in November. My hair was pretty thick before hand. It is very thin now but I have never been close to bald. I worried I would be by seeing all the hairballs in my brush and in the drain. (so gross, sorry!) I take a Biotin supplement that I get over the counter in the herbal supplement aisle. I lose A LOT less hair now at 7 months out, mostly due to having no problems getting my Protein in I think. I don't think you will be bald for your wedding. I have read a few threads about Hair loss but I personally haven't seen anyone complain about actual baldness. Good luck!!

Hi, this was also a concern of mine too. I started losing my hair at about 2.5 months post op and stopped losing it in my 7th month. I lost about 33% of my hair and because I have religously been taking Biotin 10,000 mcg and silica, at 9 months post op, I have a full head of hair. 33 % is new growth and it is growing really fast. I don't find very any hair in the drain any more which is very pleasing to me. I had no bald spots, it was distributed evenly through out my scalp. People don't even notice that I have lost my hair. So glad to have a full head of hair. :)

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
