Hi everyone!

I am new to the site. I am currently going through the 3 month process with my insurance and hospital weight program before I can have the surgery. I already had my in-take program about 2 weeks ago. I will have my first session on July 7th where I will meet with the registered dietician and go over all the reading material.

I know what I have to do but it's the whole process of changing the way I eat that scares me. I have always turned to food to help me cope wether it was dealing with the loss of my mother at 9, stress, depression. I don't have any other way I know of copeing . Unfortunately, my health has declined because of the excess weight and I can't wait to see it go!

I'm just here like everyone else and can't wait to get a "new" me back!

I used food to cope with issues also, but after the surgery that all changed, you will see. The first couple of weeks after surgery I did go thru kind of withdrawel because I was craving "Everything" even food I never ate prior to surgery, but I couldn't eat it 'cause my stomach would not allow it, after this period everything changed I lost taste for alot of food I thought I could never live without. Everyone is different but I hear that most people go thru the same progress. You will have your grieving but afterward its like "I don't even want it anymore" which is a great feeling! I was a Carb Monster prior to surgery, I never thought anything can stop me from eating rice or potatoes, breads etc. but I haven't had any of that since the surgery and have no taste for it. Its a Miracle for me.

God Bless and Best Wishes! :)

Welcome! I am also in the beginning of a 3 month waiting period. I am actually going into my second month here in July. I go between excitement and sheer terror. I have been losing about 2 lbs a week just watching calories and a bit more activity, so you start thinking "do I really have to put myself through this surgery? Why can't I just keep doing this...". I've been heavy most all of my life and like most people here have been on tons of diets, some worked, some didn't, but you still gain it all back. So thats where I am... Glad your here, it helps you process your thoughts and feelings.

I'm in the same boat. Doing the 3 month ins requirements. I still waiver. Do I have the surgery, or do I do it the old fashioned way? I figured I've tried everything, why not? I'm just scared I will end up worse than before.

Me too! I have a precious 4 year old miracle daughter and great husband and family. I don't want to mess that up for anything!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
