Wheezy Whispers-AKA September's Goals

Recommended Posts

It is very interesting hearing about AB health care because I thought it was better than in Ontario. Ya know the no provincial tax, you would think that it would mean the province is so rich, it would have money to better provide for health care!!!! At least they are starting to cover for some lap band surgeries. Ontario doesn't cover any at all!!!

Mandi, I have 2 kids (brats). They are old enough to know better and do better. I, like many other parents out there wish they had the wisdom of someone my age, but s'ais la vie!!!

Wheezy, yes, you'd think a rich province such as Alberta would have better health care but unfortunately this has not been my experience in the system. I think it's horrible but I guess it's all relative. I'm sure there are much worse health care systems in the world. At least we have one, such as it is!

So this is my truth. I had lapband surgery Aug 15th 2007. I have only lost 25 lbs in total. Not what I expected after having spent all the money, pain and energy. So on Monday I had my 5th fill. I now have 2.4 ccs in a 5 cc band. I always thought I had a 4 cc band but Dr C. told me in fact it can hold 5ccs. After talking with Dr C about restriction, I am now convinced that all this time, I thought that I had plenty of restriction. As it turns out I was wrong. With this recent fill, I now have to practice what was preached. Eat very slowly, small bites and chew chew chew.

This is the fill that is going to do it!!!

Yeah Wheezy! I am realizing how important these fills are because I am waiting for my first one! Not long now - June 18th, but boy, this is tough. I have gained 6 pounds!!! (Not reflected yet on my ticker - weill do it Monday morning). I look at people who have just been go go go since their preop andI wonder why I can't do it as well. But, we are all different and I am hoping that my first fill will get me off and running -

We are all in this together!

Thanks all!! It's true we are all different, but I had all of my fills by others Docs, it wasn't until I met Dr C. that I understood what amount of restriction you should feel. The Mississauga clinic is increasing the amount of patient support that is provided. I think that it is a step in the right direction.

Cheers.

Hi Wheezy,

I was just curious as to how Dr Cobourn explained the restriction we should feel. Can you describe it?

Hi Wheezy

I too am interested in what Dr. C. said about restriction and also what did you mean about increasing amount of patient suppport?

I am going for my second fill on Thurs. the 21st. I don't think I've had the restriction I should have yet. I know it is not the same as the old "FULL" feeling I used to get after a big pig out but I am not sure what it should be.;)

Awaiting your reply.

I've had my 2nd fill and am never really hungry, but I don't have the tight feeling that I had when first banded...Is that what we're aiming for when looking for the sweet spot?

I am getting very anoyed!! This is the third time I try to respond about what Dr C said about restriction and for some reason, it does not post!!!

So here I go again....

Dr C. said that the only thing I should be able to get down in the morning is coffee and maybe some yogurt. He said that I should be able to eat chicken of fish but beef would be very difficult. He said that the restriction should be able to carry through to the evening hours. Every experienced bandster knows that morning has the greatest restriction therefore in order to have restriction later in the day, you can't eat much in the morning.

Hope this helps and hope this shows up as a post. Wish me luck!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
